So when Barker is ready to go again (whenever it is), does Stoops give him his starting position back again? Or does Johnson stay the starter?

Sorry about error in title. I couldn't edit it.

Drew will have his starting job back. He did the same thing with Patty Ice last year. The better player sat on the bench most the season.

Well, Barker looked really good the 1st half against SM and not so great the 2nd half.

Neither looked good against uf.

SJ looked great against NSU but they aren't as good as SM.

So, I guess we will have to see against SC.

Have to see how SJ does vs SEC teams. Would be nice to have 2 good QBs, not so nice to have 2 mediocre QBs.

Cant imagine Johnson doesn't start against USC.

I can't either, Johnson didn't turn the ball over and was very comfortable throwing and running. I was impressed with his performance given the amount of snaps he gets during game prep week

Was the concussion protocol applied after the Richmond issue? He was more or less knocked out, not trying to be funny at all, he did looked dazed at the start of the game Saturday

You have to start Johnson against South Carolina but you have to say all week long it is a game day decision.

Don't know about Stoops but most coaches have a hard and fast rule that a guy doesn't lose his starting job because of injury. Doesn't mean he cat be pulled quickly.

You can edit it. You just have to go to the top of the thread and hold your cursor over the wrench you see above the first post. It will show you two options, one of which is "Edit Title"

If SJ doesn't play at all vs SC and beyond, then that's it folks this staff has packed it in and has no interest in changing things up to try and get something going.

SJ showed enough to warrant some pt going forward.

I wouldn't be totally against a two QB system.

DB really hasn't done anything that screams he is the undisputed starter and face of the program.

Barker listed as starter for SC game and Benny Snell listed as 3rd string running back. You can't make this stuff up

If Barker starts, then even a optimist like me can't spin it as something good. Really hoping the depth chart released today was a mistake.

I think Johnson is the second coming of Jalen Whitlow
I am going to wait to anoint Johnson as a legit answer at QB until he atleast plays a SEC team. But that pass he hit on a post route to Badet was a really good throw.

All kidding aside...I don't think Whitlow completed a pass that traveled in air longer than 10-12 yards in the 3 years he played QB at UK. I can easily see a far superior passer down the field as Whitlow all I ever saw him hit was screens and few 5 yard out routes...

Have seen a few posts mention that Barker was hurt vs USM and has been playing injured. He obviously doesn't have the experience or skill to do so yet...

Barker at 100% looked pretty good vs USM, but Johnson may be better suited for our team and our OL. Play calling also looked much better (although the plays they were sending in to Johnson should be what we were using all season anyways).

The depth chart doesn't matter and isn't 100%. They will hope SC has to prepare for multiple QBs. I think Barker is going to be out for a while.

I think Johnson plays a lot early. If not first series, and we don't move ball he will. Be in there the next series. Why just tell everyone you are going to start Johnson (about have to stick with him this game then) and allow USC to just prepare for the style (option read) set we run. With barker would be a more pocket pro style sets. Make them prepare for both

Have been reading that as well....do you recall against UF down 14-0 when Barker threw a pass to the ground between Timmons and Juice?

Something was just off on that throw physically speaking it seemed. it was missed so bad it made you just wonder what was up...if he hits Timmons its probably a TD.

Yes - considering what we saw in the first half vs USM, some of the throws have to make you think...I knew immediately after the NMSU INT that something had to be up - sure enough he was getting looked at by trainers.

Barker has shown the ability. Where he has struggled is with dealing with some adversity. He's failed to show that short memory that a quarterback needs to go out and make the next play after a mistake. The question the coaches have to answer is whether this problem is fixable. If not then they must move on. Johnson showed some solid ability, but he was also greatly helped by a running tandem that was pretty much unstoppable. Johnson then made the easier throws to keep the ball moving and the defense off balance. There weren't too many difficult throws asked of him. So, that begs the question of how well he can makes those hard throws. He will need to make every throw in sec play.

Drew should start. Earned it in the summer. Shouldn't lose a job due to injury. Steven should play as well. Same with Jo Jo and Snell. Kemp has paid his dues. Plays great vs So Car

With this quote, I believe Johnson starts.

“If Drew was back, 100 percent ready to go, then he would have the opportunity,” Stoops said. “Now, there’s always things that factor in like missed practice, getting the reps and if your backup is playing like Stephen did. All situations are different so we’ll have to see. It would have to be a miraculous recovery for him to come back Wednesday afternoon and feel that good and be able to come in and start in this game with the way Stephen played.” - Stoops
