So is Stoops in complete control of the defense now?

No denying the improvement of the defense since he has taken over the play calling.

So what is Eliot's role now?

He is now the "maybe we should try this" guy. We normally turns into the "have get a Resume together" guy at the end of the year.

If so, good job Stoops! We're playing a ton more 4-3 scheme which gets Elam out of game and more Pringle/Middleton which is a good thing. Also we get Kenegra Daniel back which I hope helps the D-front out some more.

Eliot needs to be fired if Stoops is running the D. He is bringing nothing to the table.

It appears Stoops and Eliot have a kind of Gran/Hinshaw relationship these past 2 games.

Whatever they did at halftime v NMSt has definitely carried over. Defense needs to play pissed off next Saturday. I hate moral victories but it seems like we usually manage to keep the score v Alabama respectable most years. The team has a fragile psyche for whatever reason...the defense needs to stand tall and give Johnson and the boys support. Comversely, the offense is going to have to elevate their game big time if they want to get through that stout Bama D. If we can play with the swagger we had at Gainesville in 2014 then we can show we belong. Obviously you have to pick Bama to win but my big concern is the big step forward we've just taken can't be erased by a humiliation. The guys need to stand tall and fight. I'm afraid if Bama takes us to the woodshed they may mentally collapse and then affect games we have to win like Vandy the following week.

I don't get the sense that Eliot is killing it in recruiting either. If he was bringing in top talent he might justify a continued role on the staff, but if not, that's one less reason to keep him.

So would we possibly be able to go after a Bo Pelini as Eliot's replacement?

I'd take Pelini in a minute, but I've long assumed he is not the biggest CMS fan owing to predation on his Nebraska program.

Pelini is a Cardinal Mooney alumnus and pulled players from there to Lincoln. The players that left Nebraska for Kentucky weren't stars. It's hard to really know, but he may not have cared that much. 2014 was his last year coaching Nebraska.
