So, its Cambell. Great hire. Let's see what recruits PSU can swipe.

I wouldn't count on a ton of ISU guys following him to the east. Franklin is only taking "commitments" and current roster guys a few hours south.

Oh give me a break, this is professional football now - ISU's players are all UFAs (Unrestricted Free Agents). I'm quite sure many of them are going to be willing to move when their compensation is doubled (you do realize that Campbell was only making $5 mm/ yr?). ISU does not have anywhere close to the financial ability that PSU does in regards to peyroll (again, this was the big reason ISU did not enter into a bidding war for Campbell - they don't have the financial resources to keep up with PSU.... it isn't going into the red one season. Once a team like ISU goes into the red, it's perpetual from there out.).

Correct it’s being reported we now have $30 million in NIL to play with. We will most likely get any Iowa State player we want.

As incredibly painful as this whole hiring saga has been, I'm really happy we got Campbell. I like him a lot more than Sitake and it's really fortunate for PSU that Sitake changed his mind and declined the offer.
I never got sitake. A coach from byu??? He didn't get good until Oregon, usc and Washington left the conference.

This may be a very similar situation to Cignetti taking the core of his team/recruits West, except Campbell would be taking them East..... and oh yeah, it'll be a BCS P4 roster we're talking about, not an FCS roster in the process of transitioning to BCS.

Agreed - I am happy the cookie guy ponied up to keep him in Provo - terrible fit here - what the F was Kraft thinking if this was true - same with Rhule - I am sure Nebby fans are overjoyed they bent over backwards to keep him and his 500 record.

Sitake would not have been able to bring players either - it's reported that 50-70% of their roster over time is mormon and do their "2 year mission" while there. In other words, religion (and the desire to play Major CFB within those beliefs) is one of the big reasons the majority of their players are there. They wouldn't have followed Sitake to State College.

IMHO if they thought they were good enough to play here, they would have stayed. OR, we did not think they are worth what UWVA is paying them.
Disagree. They are high level players and prospects. They didn’t stay because on the day they were signing their LOI, they had no idea who the head coach would be. As for the NIL offers, they had no idea what that would be either apparently because they were told by the Franklin staffers that their scholarship offers and NIL offers were null and void with the Franklin firing. There could be a lending of fences and new offers now that it is being revealed that PSU is dedicating more money to football spending than LSU.

Lots of portal guys out there, many more once the playoff bracket is finalized. This should be A big evaluation week for Campbell, watch practice, interview each player, determine if he can bring a better player from ISU, etc.

Aren’t finals next week? Tough to get everyone together during finals week

I've quickly grown sour on this hiring. At first I was supportive ... but I've already noticed at least two posters misspelling the name, and that's such an irritant to me, he's got to go.

Aren't some of them from NJ and Ohio
I scanned the ISU roster and they have 7 guys from Ohio, 1 from NC and 2 from NJ. Everyone else is from out west somewhere.

The two from NJ are...

Fresh WR Karon Brookins 6'5" 200 lbs - No stats this year
RS Soph DL Zaimir Hawk 6'3" 305 lbs - 4 solo, 3 Assist tackles

Might not be game changers yet but would add depth.

Several players from Florida and Texas. Not sure who is responsible for pulling these players to ISU

Maybe not. Could actually be easier. Depends on everyone’s schedule.
