find its way into the ACC (vomit) and the SEC poaches both Clempscum and FSU...then what? How would WVU be any better off than it is now? Sure UNC and Duke are draws...but for basketball only. Heck without Clempscum and FSU, the ACC is little better than the old Big East!

IMO the B1G is the best spot to be. Sure we won't have sPitt (who needs them), but the conference is potentially a lot more stable than the ACC (puke) is and it doesn't have the sink that the ACC carries along with it

That's the big problem Texas and Oklahoma have left for their conference mates. A potential move to the ACC could end up being bad, for the reasons you state. What's to stop the SEC from also grabbing Va Tech and North Carolina? If all that happens, you think the B1G wouldn't be interested in taking Virginia, Georgia Tech, NC State, etc? Texas screwed WVU without consent, and Oklahoma is an accessory to the crime.

If I were the B1G I'd leave the ACC alone and focus in on the Big XII left overs and sew up the mid-western market. On any given Saturday afternoon every TV set along America's spine would be tuned into see B1G football and or basketball. And best of all, they B1G could do it while looking like they rode in on a white horse and no one would be saddled with paying off exit fees. Iowa may groan but life will go on

The ACC is a better landing spot than the AAC, but marginally for the exact reasons you said. The difference is the ACC has the leverage to poach AAC not the other way around. So unless WVU could get into the Big 10 or SEC, the ACC is the way to go.

I'd say that even if just UT and OU goes to the SEC, the ACC should be proactive. Not just with regard to additions, but even replacements on the table. For example Wake Forest isn't great in either big sport and do not really bring anymore market than the rest of the NC schools. Replacing them with either WVU or Cincinnati would only improve the conference.

The big 12 was never stable and we knew that. The GOR gave us the ability to kick the can 10 years down the road. If we do get an acc invite who knows what will happen when there gor expires in 2036. But the acc has a better chance of existing in some form or another than the big 12 ever did. At the very least it would give us a decade or more to figure things out. I would rather be in the acc for the next decade then slumming it in some G5 power 5 hybrid.

UNC will eventually land in the SEC

Same thing I said about the Big 12. Make the most of it so when it does occur you are one of the brightest/biggest fruits on the tree.

Won’t be permanent. The old ways of running conferences doesn’t exist anymore.
UNC has already felt the pressure and will feel it more.
Clemson and Florida State can only follow the path created by the schools in North Carolina

Its an interesting question. Join the ACC and Clemson and FSU and/or UVA and UNC move on to the Big Ten or SEC. Then you have several other schools "left over".

Then maybe WVU, the remainder ACC and BIG 12 could join forces to be a fourth league.

Lots to shake out now. IF Notre Dame joined then the ACC is probably stable but really don't think they ever will.

The Big Ten would be a more stable position but that AAU status is a gigantic hurdle--

The ACC is a short term answer only. They're doomed in the long run.

You guys keep ignoring that the ACC has iron clad contracts through 2036. Literally you guys aren’t even dealing in reality or facts. Ignoring the fact that ND is contractually bound to join ACC if it joins a conference. It’s almost unbearable navigating some of these threads.

Again I posted about the Big12 implosion years ago. I posted that I was told in 22 or 23 the Big12 was done. Posted that a close contact of mine in NYC that was part of marketing the New Big East all but guaranteed Texas was never gonna be in Big12 for next GOR. And in fact was trying to convince ACC to give them a ND deal. Literally posted what’s taking place right now on this dumbass site a long time ago. Had to put up with homers and a few toxic handle slopping up thread after thread. If I get anything relevant I’ll post it. Then the losers can muck up the thread some more as it all comes to be. Again WVU is in the mix and will be fine.

Bottom line is that if Texas and OU bounce out of the Big XII, the ACC is the best move outside of the Big 10 or SEC. Even if the ACC loses Clemson and FSU, the ACC will not be worse than the Big XII remnant and have less geographical issues. The AAC will be raided of Cincy and UCF by the ACC. Even if the ACC stability is only temporary until 10-15 years from now when poaching comes back around, it's the only way WVU stays in the conversation of not being relegated to irrelevance if the Big 10 and SEC are not options currently.
