He is better than two of them and probably Chandler as well.

Late bloomer as in grew late. He already had the skill. Some kids gets tall after the recruiting radar.

Look at Thiero. Who was a nobody coming out of HS.
If he’s better than them, why wasn’t he rated higher….than any of them…..by anyone? If he’s that good, why is he at Holy Cross? He was 6’5 as a sophomore - and a hold back at that - and essentially the same player as a sophomore as he was his senior year. He shot more, so he scored more, but his game didn’t change.

I want the best available players on the roster, it doesn’t matter where they are from. It’s not 1950, we can’t have 13 Ky boys on the roster! If they are Kentucky worthy fine, but don’t need guys just taking up space that can’t play at this level! We definitely need to get more athletic!
The only guys willing to be the 13th-15th guys will likely be Kentucky boys.

He wasn’t 6 5 as a sophomore. He was 6 2 going into his senior year. I don’t care what you think you read.

Go ahead and hate. He’s better than the freshman we have now and I like all of them too. He’d be a good piece.

Matt Jones just stated to keep our eyes on this kid. Which, to me, basically says he will be a Wildcat.
I want him on the squad. Pope had one year to get backups and we were scraping the bottom of the barrel using them for much of the year.

If Green can provide just a few minutes and maybe a scoring spark off the bench, sign him up.

We don’t need a bench warmer at his position. If we are going for 6’-5” to 6’-6” guard/forward types, we are way better served getting either Dix or Eaglestaff. Now, if Noah, Perry or Chandler leave, he would be a good replacement. However we need guys who can start or play very significant minutes at that position we just have too many already on the roster or HS kids.

We need to get multiple PF’s, a starting PG and C. If there are rides available once that is done and we get a starter level SF maybe we can take the kid. He is not currently better than Chandler or Noah. He may be better than Perry, but they play a different positions.

He’s better than them. You’ll see.

You all bashed me for liking literally SGA after seeing him play in HS and thought he was a “spot minute” guy.

He probably won’t end up here though.

Another option worthy of consideration.

If we return Otega, Chandler, and Noah there’s probably one real wing we’re adding in the portal. Is this the guy for that? I have no clue.

PG 1 and PF 1 take huge priority for the offseason. Then it’s figuring out roles for guys like Jasper(locked in starter or not?), what to do at C, how much can we depend on this year’s freshmen next year, etc.

PG 1, Acaden, Perry, Jasper time at PG
Jasper Johnson, is Chandler SG2 or is he SG3/SF?
Otega Oweh, Noah, Chandler
PF1, PF 2, Noah
BG(still a huge ? to me), Moreno

That’s 11 guys. I don’t care at all about the 15 scholarship junk. I care about 12, beyond that it’ll be fluff guys sitting out the year for injuries(Khalifa at UL) or walk on types getting them.

We actually need all of the above.

Need Dix or Eaglestaff to be immediate contributors and a guy like Green as a long term investment.

6’2. Funny. I’ve known Max Green since he was in the 6th grade. Go on, say what you wish.

The idea of not wanting Max Green but coveting Eaglestaff is preposterous.
I want to know if either one is capable of playing defense in the SEC. Smith, Dix, and all the other guys mentioned seem to have better potential on defense.

I think Dix is probably the better overall player. My comment was simply related to the comment of preferring Green over Eaglestaff.

Be great to get both
One could play forward and the other guard, especially with a scoring threat at center

I want to make it clear, that I don’t hate the idea of Green coming aboard, especially if he really is 6’8”. I just don’t think he should be the priority. He likely would be a good player after a year of weight training. But the idea he is already better than Chandler is only looking at a Ky kid who had a great game against a HS all star team and then went to a way less challenging conference/team and had a good freshman season. Comparing in that distinctly different environment vs the SEC is a crap shoot at best. From what I have seen, he would be challenged in staying in front of SEC guards similarly to Noah or Perry.

All 3 of our freshmen would have dominated n the peewee patriot league.

This kid, Braden Smith, the Iowa guy… I thought we wanted to get more athletic and better defensively, not worse?

Only way I’d offer is if Noah/Perry left or if he’s okay being at the end of the bench/rotation with the possibility of earning more minutes.

Are you from Kentucky? Did you grow up dreaming of playing for UK? I did. So did Perry and Noah. They understand how it works.
I'm sorry, but no one with their talent is going to be willing to be at the end of the bench, regardless of their childhood dream.

He looks comparable to Noah. A little slow (like Noah), a little better handle, but not as physical as Noah. I'm ok adding him, but not as a top 8 guy.
My top 8 would be Oweh, Johnson, a portal C, a portal PG, a portal SG/W, Lewis, maybe Garrison (but I'm ok if he left), maybe Chandler, maybe Moreno (if Garrison left), probably a portal Combo Guard.
Still developing, possibly Chandler, probably Moreno, Noah, this Green kid if he came, Perry.

So perry and Noah are gonna just accept not playing at all next season? Delusional.
THIS is WHY I keep saying that we will NOT fill 15 scholarships, anything over 12 would be very difficult. Because it's tough to get minutes even for the 11th & 12th men (unless you have injuries). This year Michigan ST has gone 10 deep all playing 13+mpg, but the 11th man 55min all season.

I'm sure both Perry and Noah have played more this year than they expected to. And they both know why (injuries). Noah has had his moments, but he's also had some 0's across the board games. Perry has had a few moments too. I think they both surely can recognize they aren't there yet, able to be consistent key contributors to a championship level team. So the question both will have to ask themselves, "do I move on to a lower level school where I think I can be one of the main guys; OR do I stick to my original plan and keep working and getting better so that by my JR and SR years I am a key contributor to a championship level team, the team I've dreamed of playing for since I was a kid?".
