not that all of you spankers care
Another "outlaw" and part of the Johnny Cash influence. I like a lot of his music, and I hate to see him go.

Speaking of outlaw country, any fans of Waylon's kid, Shooter? I've never seen him live, but I like a lot of his music. I think of him as southern rock as much as country. Country isn't what it used to be though - more like what pop music is to rock for the most part.

He did on his birthday, which seems appropriate since it sounds like the plot of a country music song.

Wife got home from a trip and reminded me that he was part of a Willie Nelson concert we have tickets for. Bummer.

I remember Haggard telling the tale of his first arrest on the Johnny Carson Show decades ago. Merle and his buddy decided breaking into a bar would be a good idea. They waited until after their folks went to bed and headed to the bar with a sledgehammer, cold chisel, and crowbar intent on knocking a hole in the back wall.

They succeeded and found the bar packed full of people, most of them staring at the hole. Merle and his buddy, both around 14, didn't know bars stayed open that late. The folks in the bar had called the cops when they heard the hammering. The cops were waiting for the two young desperado's to finally punch through the wall to scoop 'em up.
