No, but if he were to announce Cruz to SCOTUS now... he'd definitely be sunk.

Naming Kasich wouldn't be a bad idea however. Good cop to his bad cop.

When they say stuff like that you should ask them for some action on it...make a wager. I think Kasich could be VP candidate but Cruz to the SCOTUS sounds kinda nutty.

I'm not buying it. I could be wrong, but I don't think Kasich wants to hitch his wagon to Trump. Kasich is still young enough to make a run in 2020. I think he'll stick to the sidelines and try again. With all of the name calling between Cruz and Trump, I can't see them choosing to link up like that either. I would think that Christie is in the running for VP, but I doubt a true selection has been made yet.

As you know, your tech is a complete nutjob that has the political acumen of a flea. All he does is listen to crap and falls for stupid but good sounding ideas for those that tend to slober 24 hours a day.

Let's think about the Cruz for SCOTUS for one second. Yes, he would be well liked there by the conservative base way more than they like him as a senator or president. But unless the GOP has about 70 seats in the Senate, there is no way he would get confirmed. Zero chance. So, if Trump made that deal he was smart as he knows it is a promise that has zero chance of happening and Trump wouldn't be blamed for it.

Yeah, I don't believe it either, but I was just curious if anyone else heard it or knew where this was coming from. If this did originate from Rush or Beck, we'll see it on here as gospel soon enough.

The Cruz as SCOTUS thing is not happening. I could see Kasich as VP though I think it unlikely. It would certainly change my opinion on who I am voting for if he did.

I can see Trump and other power brokers in the GOP would want Kasich as VP but I am willing to be bet Kasich has told them clearly no way he would be VP to Trump. He honestly thinks Trump is a fool and Kasich has integrity unlike so many other politicians on either side of the aisle. If Kasich does become VP to Trump, it would be one of the biggest surprises in my life watching American politics.

Trump begins weighing VP options
http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/04/politics/donald-trump-vice-president-search/

(CNN)Donald Trump's campaign is scrambling to ramp up its planning for the general election, including scraping together a list of potential vice presidential candidates, after Trump abruptly became the presumptive Republican nominee Tuesday night.

The Trump campaign, blindsided by rival Ted Cruz's sudden exit from the race, is now beginning internal deliberations about potential vice presidential candidates, two Trump campaign sources tell CNN.

The campaign will also begin coordinating immediately with the Republican National Committee to calibrate a general election ground game, including staff hires and deciding in which battleground states to deploy field staff, a senior Trump adviser said.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told reporters Tuesday night before election results in Indiana drove Cruz out of the race that the campaign had yet to start vetting vice presidential candidates.

Trump confirmed Wednesday that his campaign is beginning to put together a committee to weigh in on his pick for running mate. The committee will include former presidential rival and now-Trump supporter Ben Carson, the former neurosurgeon's adviser Armstrong Williams confirmed to CNN.

A senior Trump campaign source said Wednesday that the campaign's early favorites for vice president are now New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio.

And Trump, in an interview with CNN on Wednesday, added another name to the list: Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who is expected to drop out of the race Wednesday afternoon.

"I think John will be very helpful with Ohio," Trump told CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

The source stressed that the shortlist is in its infancy.

Some are already taking themselves out of the running: A spokesman for Portman said the senator, who is in the midst of an intense Senate reelection campaign, is "not interested."
"He's focused on his own race," said Kevin Smith, his spokesman.
And Haley said her "plate is full."

"I have great respect for the will of the people, and as I have always said, I will support the Republican nominee for president," she said in a statement. "While I am flattered to be mentioned and proud of what that says about the great things going on in South Carolina, my plate is full and I am not interested in serving as vice president."

A spokesman for Martinez also said she wasn't interested.
"The governor has said repeatedly over the years that she isn't interested in serving as vice president," said Chris Sanchez, a spokesman for the governor. "She appreciates that such attention puts New Mexico in the spotlight, but she is fully committed to serving the people of our state."

Haley, who endorsed Sen. Marco Rubio against Trump in her state's primary, has been highly critical of Trump and warned voters against flocking to "the siren call of the angriest voices" -- a thinly veiled dig at Trump.

Martinez has also not shied away from criticizing the brash New York billionaire and Portman has refused to say whether he would support Trump as the nominee.

Trump has repeatedly stressed that he would pick a running mate with political and government experience -- versus a businessman like himself -- whose relationships with powerful members of Congress could help him pass his agenda legislatively.

Yes, I suggested it a month AGO. Cruz may actually be of more benefit as AG. He would have hundreds of attys and investigators and the US government bank account to look at Bill and Hill. That would bring big assed drops of sweat. What a blast he could have at IRS. VA would probably be functioning properly by Feb 2017. May also look at Harry Reid briefly.

After interview I saw this morning on CNN, he has also got to find a slot for Bob Knight. He may be good at the UN with his communication skills.

I don't know. If he is from Southern WV, it would be a good possibility since most of us are related. Who is MtnBill and maybe I could do the research for you on this end.

I did have to amend that comment. You have missed the final paragraph.

To everyone on here suggesting Trump may select Kasich as VP (as if Kasich essentially saying "hell no" wasn't enough of a hint): Kasich didn't even mention Trump, let alone endorse him, in his speech announcing the end of his candidacy.

Christie wants to be Attorney General. Cruz can't be President if he's on the SC.
