I am really fond of building some momentum to nickname NRF "The Library."

I've seen it mentioned here on the board at least once and it's come up several times in my social feeds, all stemming from the one Buffs player getting caught saying it "sounds like a f*cking library." I mean...this is literally how nicknames come into existence.

Of course it would have been a little closer to perfect if we had played this past Saturday at the new stadium...but let's be real: the odds are extremely low that the new stadium will suddenly compel our extremely lame fanbase to get loud. It's never going to happen on the regular...so instead of hoping for something that's never going to happen, imagine if at NRF, a NU fans all making the collective "SHHHHHHHHHHH" sound on third downs. Or intentionally no noise at all. I've heard visiting players over the years acknowledge the weird energy at our stadium...I kinda like the idea of us just leaning into it.

I commend your desire to create some NRF mystic and tradition and I had a few ideas myself but I think NRF is actually designed to be as loud as 35,000 people could possibly make it.
That being said, a tradition of dead silence after the opposition scores much be pretty erie if you could pull it off.

Brilliant. That Buffs player should be memorialized in NU history. NRF nickname, "The Library". NU quietly beats all opposition. This will be unbelievable publicity when NU is in contention for the national championship, which I now believe is in the near future. A message to all the football factory schools.

So, I will at least keep trying to plant the seed here that we do the "SHHHHHHHHHHHH!" loudly on third downs - a new weird thing that maybe wouldn't take much to catch on and would yield a louder noise than silence...?

That is what it sounded like but the audio was pretty bad.

They had the students kicking the wall and it was very impressive even when there was no game and the students were not as excited as they will be at game time. Maybe they have created a monster that now they realize they need to control.

I am just brainstorming here, but I am thinking of some swag of a purple shirt with a Northwestern N, and below are the words that say "Welcome to the Library" combined with a song parody of Welcome to the Jungle.
