My count says 10 scholarship players and 3 walk-ons....Are we standing pat for the year? are any of the walk-ons capable of contributing? Is there a plan to grab 3 transfers? Lots of offers for next year although 5 of the 6 are 2 stars and who would sign with the Coach walking a tightrope with no safety net..It really does seem that the only path forward is a shiny, new coach.........
We don' have too many choices when it comes to "standing pat."
The only guys we can acquire to play next season are players who declared for the NBA Draft and entered the transfer portal, but are now going back to college. And any grad transfers who may not have definite career plans at the moment, so would consider pursuing a graduate degree. There are potentially some of those out there... but they'd have to contact NU.
Here's the potential scrimmage...
Verhoeven, Beran, Audige, Roper and Buie
against
Nicholson, Hunger, Martinelli, Barnhizer, Berry
maybe Roy Dixon plays the point for the B team.
As long as Collins doesn't opt for a repeat of his bizarro "first team" and a "second team" - playing all 10 guys in the rotation - we can say he's learning from his mistakes.
