So what is the traffic going to be like on 65s Friday night?

I am going with epic-was hoping to get to ATL by 6 but will probably wait and try to get there around 9, with at least an hour traffic jam either in Nashville or ATL. Anyone with knowledge of construction in north ATL? Traffic is usually headed north by the afternoon isnt it? Or does it matter?

It will be a Bear no matter the time. Every time I've gone through there it was bad, except for once at 3 AM.

I will miss the N-ville rush, and will hopefully beat it in ATL. But add all the Ville traffic and it will still be ugly.

I imagine a good number of locals will travel 75 via Knoxville. Adds a little time, but not driving through Nashville is worth it.

I wanted to do the 75 route, but business dictates we make a stop in Bowling Green.

The 75 route is only 19 minutes longer, but 'm afraid I-65 is going to take much longer than map quest says.

I'm waiting until Friday morning, and checking KY/TN 511 road conditions, but depending on timing, I am seriously considering taking US231 out of BG all the way to Murfreesboro before picking up 24.

I was in Nashville last week, there is some construction before 65 merges with 24 that made for a slight backup, but fairly smooth going after that...I was in serious congestion for 15min tops at the start of rush hour. Atlanta will be a nightmare.

I am with X. Much easier drive and less chance of problems going 64 to 75. Chattanooga is a serious bottleneck on 24 and is becoming dangerous.

I am taking the "shortcut" through Glasgow avoiding Nashville and Eagle Mountain altogether. I went that way on my trip to the Russell Athletic Bowl for Teddy's last game. Good drive through South Central Kentucky and Southeastern Tennessee. I swore then I would never go 65 or 75 through Tennessee again.

Was on 24 a couple of months ago. It was a week day, around 2. Parking lot. No construction, no accident, just bumper to bumper traffic. Cleared up mildly in Chattanooga. After that, smooth sailing.... until Atlanta.

Many friends are getting the word to go down I-75. Called AAA and they would not tell me how to go over the phone and said I would have to go to their office to get their preferred routing. They could tell me about work problems. They said just some small work north of Nashville on I-65, but said there is some major work on I-24 between Nashville and Monteagle. Think I will try I-75 going down and come back through Nashville Sunday.

FWIW, googlemaps shows 11 construction zones on I-65S between Louisville and Nashville and I-24E from Nashville to where it merges with I-75. The route that goes I-64 to Lexington, and then I-75 south to where it connects with I-24E is currently showing only 6 construction zones.

Plan accordingly!

This is the route I take going to Atlanta. 65 South to Glasgow exit. 25 miles further but no construction and no traffic....

75 is a shorter, better route.
