One big question from the prehistoric crowd base, like me who have played on only astro-turf (green cement) or natural grass.

How does it feel to run on and play on?

It’s easier to make cuts because it won’t slide out from under you. I can say that now that I’m older my my legs tell me all about the difference the next day after being on grass vs the turf

Everyone is fast on turf even in the rain. Only downside is black rubber pellets in my office, car and home!
A lot of the new fields have the “Cool Play” top layer. It is green and does not seem to end up stuck to everything like the black rubber.

I know I would rather ref football and umpire on field turf then grass any day. Lot less strain on the ankles and knees. Quicker recovery time too.
So does it kind of feel like soft forgiving grass with more traction the first time you play/ref of it? Or does it feel kind of weird but good the first time?

It's really great. Definitely feels soft and the grip is excellent! Not weird at all.

Although I will forever miss seeing the dirt at Joliet Memorial Stadium painted green in the late fall to give the illusion of grass. By that time of year there was hardly any grass remaining between the 20 yard lines.

I won’t, how does a field even look like this in week 2?

Had basically a downpour that entire Week 1 then also hosted like 9 games on that field in a two day period between JCA/ST. Francis and the Joliet youth teams who also played there.
