CG Homer here. Player of the year in the FVC has to be CG QB Ben McDonald. The first year QB has over 600 yards passing and rushing with 13 rushing TD's.

I lost track of how many touchdowns Kieran Conjar has for Mount Carmel this year...11 or 12...maybe not Illinois Player of the Year but it’s a 11 or 12 more touchdowns then I thought he’d have this year so he is definitely the surprise Player of the Year.

I agree. Beltz beat Thorne head up
I’ll take McCarthy over both of them without hesitation. It’s easy to get overshadowed by a QB on the same team when you’re a WR but Michael Love has a very very legitimate case as well at this point. Obviously Marist will be big for both of those guys.

I really hope you don't think I'm a member of the INP... I've always been critical of the Naz fandom but the kid can play. From what I've seen, and granted I've just seen game film, he looks to be the real deal.

He is good but if you put him on a team minus the 37 D1 kids Naz has he might not look as spectacular. This Naz team wins with or without him as well.

Well you're wrong again. Only 2 D1 kids play offense. And now you can only be a POY if you're good on a mediocre team?

His passing line alone is 75/104, 72%, 1495 yards, 20tds 0 int. Yeah we are crazy for nominating him... smh

McGrath, Lisle...don't have his stats, don't need them...Led the Lions to I-8 small division title, beat Wilmo for first time in forever, remain undefeated...Seemingly the Lions backbone forever...

Was gonna say JJ, but would also lean towards a Sr this year with no clear front runner. Thorne and Baltz come to mind. May also want to go with a defensive player if a D is dominant.

But at the end of the day Quentin Pringle...

Quin Urwiler LB/RB Jr - Batavia Bulldogs

A beast on both sides of the ball.. Multiple TD's, INT's, Sacks, Tackles, forced fumbles and a blocked punt. He's also the long snapper..

He does everything great and at 100% the entire game.. It probably helps that he plays along two D-1 players on D.. But, he did all these things last year too helping a team win the 7A state title while this years team is undefeated with a chance to win another.. I said "a chance" haters..

Definitely a homer pick as well. But Sam Laporta of Highland. This is a kid more people should know of and is not even currently being recruited by U of I.

He is pushing some great career numbers when looking at IHSA site, not sure how reliable, but:

Tied for #7 in TD receptions at 41. Three more will elevate him to number 3 all by himself on the list.

#10 in reception yards with 3055 and just 60 yards behind CJ Fiedorowicz.

Just missed list on receptions. #20 on list has 166 and Laporta has 163.

He should elevate on all these lists as the year goes on. Currently sitting at 38-719-10(receptions/yards/TDs) this year. Which brings him in as #1 in the St. Louis area YTD. All stats I gathered are off of stlhighschoolsports.com

I think Ty Gavin should be in the discussion. He is a force on both sides of the ball and a team leader. Another guy that I watch play and can’t believe that the Illini or NU couldn’t find a spot for him on the field.

JJ McCarthy’s stat line. You can pull out the D1 card all you want on whether his stats would be such without those talented skill players. But the completion percentage and zero picks are why he’s in the conversation. Doesn’t matter who you throw to, those are more impressive than anything.

Qtrs Played = 14

Passing Yards = 1,639 yards

Total Touchdowns = 21 TDS

Completion % = 80% (75-93)

Picks = 0

Wow that’s eye popping! Agree with everything except two things...

* completion percentage is affected by the receivers/RBs/TEs etc. I can tell you right now that if his receiver core consisted of three Voodoo clones - that 80percent falls to maybe a Coin flip 50percent with my stone hands!! (Assuming I could get open enough for someone to target me that is....)

* it’s nice to have an Oline to keep you upright to make all the throws and completions. Man. any believe I almost forgot the lineman!

After watching a half in person. Kid is the real deal. Legit Power 5 QB. Arm talent is there, accuracy, decent enough athlete. If he has a bona fide work ethic, this kid could be very, very good at the next level.

Not advertising. This is a personal message. And I'll promote my personal opinion under my own name, academy name and identity anytime I feel it's justified, i.e. the purpose of a "message board."

I have a degree in journalism - I went to the Dark Side immediately as a PR Hack then an Agency Shill. I used to tell clients to let me put out press releases for any little thing: "Let's put her on the street and see who rolls up." The implication being ... well, you know.

Anyway, this guy put his name behind his message - what's is possibly wrong with that?
