HF is the clear choice, but I think PC is going to be right there, especially if Seff helps again. There is no shame in that, Sharp's best years were aided by by Gordie.

MC is going to be very tough to beat for a few seasons now, maybe the next three.

Montini should be thick again. Especially with the already new addition at LB.

JCA will be tough, but thin. Should win 5a if Montini and SHG are up.

I'm interested in seeing what will be of the traditional public powers next season. WWS is in a strange place, there does not appear to be an MS all-state QB again, I have no reason to believe GW will not be a tough out, LZ was down down down this season and not sure they rebound...the Naperthrills were only above average the last few years...is there new blood? Is the cycle turning a bit right now?

Regarding LZ, they were down, no doubt.
But watch out next year and beyond. The rumor mill in lake county is that the sophomore class (juniors next season) is better than the 06/07 class that went downstate two years in a row. Throw in all state RB Ben Klett, an upcoming sophomore QB who is already projected to be a top high school QB, and defensive guru Dave Proffit and you have the makings of a powerhouse. We'll see.

Libertyville not only has all state QB Riley Lees returning but I believe they have 12-15 returning starters on either side of the ball so gotta believe they have inside track on NSC crown as well as a top 5 ranking in 7A.

18 of 22 back and yes they would be the preseason NSC favorite. I think Carmel with Rondell Jamison back is a threat too.

I think HF is a tricky case...usually when they are hyped they haven't performed up to expectations...when no expects anything from the Vikings they make a crazy run in 8A.

I think MC, PC, and Libertyville are in the discussion...possibly Simeon (trust MWitt's faith) and Loyola (as long as Emmett Clifford is QB).

I would expect Naz, JCA, SHG, Bloomington Central Catholic (not anywhere near top 30, but should be really good in 3A/4A), LWE, Brook, GBW, and the other usual suspects.

ESL had a lot of young boys playing this year, including a WR with talent that may rival some of the big names of past seasons.

PC is losing the QB and Boykin and not sure if Sneffner is dodging again.they will be good but u can't lose those 2 players and go 8-1 again.

Not sure if that is so Dean.

The younger PC crop was pretty solid. Five years ago, i would have agreed with you 100%. You can't discount the fact that talent every where is down. Have to compare this PC crop to its class...not what we have become used to seeing an 8-1 team look like.

IL is desparately in need of a few more 5 star players...
