So who/what will the Bears do?

I’m starting to think Nelson and Smith will be gone by 8. If that’s the case, that means there will be a QB someone wants. Trade down, get back your third round pick and draft best availables.

They need bodies that can play.

All things being equal if Nelson is gone Smith is the guy. If they are both there and there are Qb on the board trade down and get picks.

I think the bears aren't in the greatest spot for trading back, since the top QBs have a good chance of being gone by the time the bears are up (and a lot of the time that's why teams move up). I would love to get back a 3rd rounder, and possibly slide back to pick up Davenport in the middle of the 1st, but if not I have no problem picking at 8 because we should have a great chance at a top 5 overall player in the draft. I always think you go best available and that would be Nelson. If not Nelson, I really like Ward, despite having resigned both corners last year. That kid has amazing coverage skills, very little separation ever, and plays back shoulder fades and comebacks incredibly. He could help out that lack of personnel when it comes to a pass rush. Third option, I love Roquan Smith, tackling machine! His Rose Bowl was incredible and I think he will be a great pro, but pass rusher and cover corners are just so much more valuable than inside LBs. If none of them are on the board, I really hope someone will come up and take the number 8 pick and hopefully we can get Davenport later in the 1st, as I said before.

I wouldn't bet on anything when it comes to this team and the draft. I mean, no one predicted they would take Trubisky last year.

I was fishing all weekend, but the Miller pick has me* ecstatic. Been following him at Memphis for a few years and he's the definition of a football player.

Going through some of the Bears drafts is frightening. Ie Todd Saurbrun 2nd round
There have been a lot of bad ones...Off the top of my head, Michael Haynes, Alonzo Spellman, Enis, Salaam, Benson...I think the worst of David Terrel. He couldn't get open he was so slow.

Seems like whatever the position they needed - that particular position was extremely short on it in that year.

They should follow what Kevin Colbert of the Steelers does draft the best available and not the biggest position of need. By doing this in the 1st round he has drafted 9 pro bowlers in the last 18 years with most of the picks being later in the 1st round.

When you draft by biggest need you reach and pass up on really good talent.

Every team has had its share of bad draft picks and busts. I just read an article about the 20 worst draft picks in history and none of them were Bears. Remember guys like, Brady Quinn, Vince Young, Charles Rogers, JaMarcus Russell, Tony Mandarich, Rae Carruth, Kevin Kolb, Andre Ware, Johnny Manziel, Brian Bosworth, Todd Marinovich, Tim Couch, Rick Mirer and Ryan Leaf?

Ryan Leaf - what a disaster and total shitshow. That has to be in the top 5 busts of all time. At least the Boz and Mandarich played and were serviceable for the short time they were in the NFL. A lot of the Steriod guys struggled in the NFL due to injuries (Boz had the shoulders of a 70 year old man by the time he got out of college - can’t believe the medicals on him didn’t set off alarm bells!)
