In the October international window, we host Ecuador [#2 qualifier from CONMEBOL] in Austin and Australia [2nd place finisher in its qualifying group behind Japan] in Commerce City, CO. Then in November, we host the Guays [Para and Uru] in Chester, PA and Tampa.

Charlotte 3 Meesi nil. Charlotte FC ties the MLS record for consecutive wins. They also get their (second?) best player back tonight with Biel returning. NYCFC, two bad teams, and then league-leading Philly. They are four five four points out of the league's top spot as of right now.

Ffs. There are going to be empty seats galore. No thank you…I’ll enjoy the massively improved experience of my couch and big screen.

Maybe a small silver lining, but if tickets don't move, prices will eventually come down b/c of the dynamic pricing thing, but there will probably be enough ludicrously rich people chasing tickets to keep that from happening.

Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal!
Man this place is dead…
I tell you what though, based on our first 7 fixtures, if before the season started you would have listed for me the injuries we would endure and then told me we would be alone in first going into the 2nd international break I would have said you were insane. I’m kinda in shock right now if I’m honest. I was honestly just hoping we would still be in touching distance with the leaders at this point.
But man, Liverpool are so wide open at the back (not to mention midfield). They ship so many goals. They were the cardiac pack the first 5 weeks of the season. Law of averages really caught up with them the last 8 days. And I just don’t think City are that good at this point. They could improve though. Will be interesting to see how this season plays out.
Hope MO’s latest injury is not too serious.

It IS dead. Almost as dead as my Toffees were yesterday against Palace. Then we get a Ndiaye PK to equalize in the 76th minute and a miraculous Grealish winner in the 4th minute of stoppage time.
And if you're surprised y'all sit atop the table, just imagine mine to see Everton sitting 8th!!

I’m not going to say anything on the account of suffering as an Arsenal fan in terms of trophies but I love the depth of the squad even with the recent injuries. For example, I’ve had debates with fellow gooners regarding the value of Trossard and Martinelli to which I argued that they would be the reasons we will compete for the title. It’s been nice to see Gabi come on and basically be a super sub the way Leo has been in recent seasons. Get Gyokeres scoring goals (even though he does so much that goes unnoticed) and we’ll see how far this team goes.

Grealish has a been a great loan signing by the Toffees this season. Just gives that extra quality that was lacking for Everton since Moyes last time in charge.

But seriously…it’s dead. Really hope we get most folks back from 24/7. Would be concerning about the future of the site if they can’t maintain a certain subscriber base.

I had purchased the Club World Cup ticket package that guaranteed a right to buy WC tickets - yesterday that window opened.

I bought WC tickets yesterday. Group stage in ATL on June 21. Category 1 at $410 each. I also took a punt on Round of 32 in Dallas on July 3. 2nd place team from Group D (USMNT group) plays in that game. Those were a little over $500 each.

USA got a great draw.
Australia from Pot 2 is ideal
Avoided all the best European and South American teams not in Pot 1
Paraguay from South America is not bad at all and getting one of the weakest UEFA play-in teams as the only European team in the group is best case scenario

Still, Paraguay and Turkey (likely) are no pushovers. I saw somewhere we have the highest average ELO of any group. No great teams but no bad teams either.

Educate me, what is ELO?

My old brain immediately thinks Electric Light Orchestra.

I know I could ask my phone but on occasion I still like to learn from presumed actual human being internet strangers I’ll never know in real life but feel like I do because we’ve been on the same message board for a long time. Thx.

Good point.
I have tickets to Round of 32 game in Dallas on July 3. 2nd place in USMNT’s group D play in that game. So I am perfectly fine with us finishing second in the group. Selfishly I would prefer it. And we would play second place in Group G, which is a really weak group anyway. So that would not be a bad outcome.

short answer: a ranking sytem originally for chess, but applied to all kinds of competitions now, like soccer. Generally people think they are a better reflection of a team's strength than FIFA's rankings.

So if Turkey wins its UEFA playoff, we would be the lowest ranked of the 4 teams in our group under the ELO as of 12/1. Yikes
