I’ve played a ton of football in my day

Doesn’t take a genius to know you can’t win meaningfully with a finesse program.

guys played hard today. Was impressed with the fight. Dylan is the real deal (still not sure he can lead).

we’re just incredibly limited until we get serious about toughening up where it matters (trenches, sidelines, locker room).
I am casually involved, so my opinion has limited worth. I came away very impressed with Dylan.

24 runs, 48 passes

empty formation passes twice inside the 10 yard line with the game tied

gave up 286 on the ground

that ain't physical, amigo
Typical you would leave the other side of the ball out of the conversation.

Our QB, receivers and DBs are better. They are light years better on the lines. As much as I love EJ, the RB room is also not close. It's hard to win if you can stop anything on the ground. Raiola to going 30/40 for 300+ yards while getting harassed all game is remarkable.
Finally someone else sees what I've been preaching for the past two years. The RB position will get Rhule fired. Year three and it is still the weakest position on offense.

Teams not soft. Out. Of. Position. Defense was not gap sound. Offensive line is also plenty physical, but if your footwork is poor, you're getting beat. I have hope for this season, but looking forward, $$$$$ needs to be spent on the lines.

Team softer than Charlie Kirk’s neck
Your celebration will be hollow. Charlie will reach exponentially more people now than he would have alive.

A few years ago, some “smart” folks thought it might be a good idea to eliminate a guy named Jesus. 2000 years later, we now see how effective that was in shutting down His message.

yep

we are a soft, finesse team

all Rhule needs to do now is duck his weekly appearance on McAfee
This nails it. We are a soft finesse team. We will NEVER return to relevance until we start recruiting better on both lines and then coaching those lines better. Coaching matters big time and what is often overlooked is that a great line coach also has a jeweler’s eye for true talent as opposed to hyped talent. How do folks suppose Osborne’s teams always managed to have good lines? Magic? Milt Tenopir and Dan Young and a few other of our coaches had an eye for talent and then knew how to coach it.
Rhule is a terrible judge of talent at just about every position. Jeff Sims anyone? And Uncle Donnie is a complete joke. Rhule, to this point, has failed to recruit real line talent. It is telling that after Ty and Nash left (two guys he did not recruit) what remained behind, and which he did recruit, are mediocre unathletic guys like RVP and Jeudy. Tony White, for all his coaching prowess, did not recruit well to the line. He left us nothing but third rate guys.
Rhule needs to hit the transfer portal hard this year, NIL money in hand and get some real talent on both lines. He then needs to fire Raiola. And if that means Dylan leaves too then so be it.

It was maddening to watch. Michigan gained 61% of their rushing yards and 50% of their total yards on three plays.

8 games left and going .500 the rest of the way looks more than likely especially as both the O/D lines get more and more beat up as the season goes on.
Michigan is the second best team we play all year and we lost by 3 with a missed field goal earlier in the game. We will win plenty this season, it’ll be a positive year 3 for Rhule, we will have a killer recruiting class and keep getting better. Don’t be short sighted

The coach is soft. The QB fought hard but our team is soft, so to speak, compared to the better teams in the league.

Coaching prowess?

He’s a .500 coach who won one G5 conference title a generation ago

LOL - Michigan allowed Nebraska to move down field in the last scoring drive in order to eat the clock up. The scoreboard might say it was a 3 pt loss but anyone who watched the game knows it wasn't nearly that close. BTW Michigan is not the 2nd best team on the schedule.

They allowed us to move down the field? Really? 🙄 look, I see the biggest issues that you see too. We aren’t there yet. I get we all want to be immediately better like Indiana did but that’s rare. We are getting better and better. We lose this game by 40+ in years prior. And yes, Michigan is the 2nd best team on our schedule. Maybe 3rd.. once again, 3 to 4 losses is what most expected in the preseason. Big step forward.

Whatever the opposite of physical football is, that’s what we love doing
You remember how long ago I called this about Raiola?

And everyone defended him with crap about how Rhule knows OL and he likes how he does things, or Dana loves him.

What the hell did people think they were gonna say with either the potential of adding #15 or trying to keep #15?!
