Footballs a violent sport played by violent men. You can either run with the big dogs or stay home and piss with the pups.
You mean pod casts dont help? Being a media creator is not helpful?

Trying to be a hip coach doesnt help on game day?

I thought that was part of coaching knowledge.

Heard miamis coach say several times that he wants his team to be physical and violent. But it wasn’t just talk from him.
Yeah, remember those "Chasing 3" ******** videos? I remember them saying something like violent something and death row for the defense. I cant remember, but its funny to think about now.

The he backwards hat failed to get the team to play physical so what does Matt do next to try and appear tough? Does he not smile like Cignetti now?

Granted it's a different game in high school but the phrases physical and violent were something our coach would often harp on. It wasn't just words to him and it showed in the W-L column.

He was a commanding general and didn't tolerate BS or half a$$ing from his players. Perhaps Woody Hayes type would be the best comparasion.

At the same time you knew he cared about us and likewise we'd run into the gates of Hell for him. Just goes to show how much coaching matters

No football is about hip flexibility. #1 trait. Cig recruited tough guys with great hip flexibility and then builds them up physically. This is why guys like HH, have measurables through the roof but cannot play football, he is big, strong, fast but can't move laterally and gets wrecked.

I was struck by how hard the defenses were hitting last night in the GA/Ole Miss game. Some really violent blows were being dealt by both sides. And very few missed tackles.
One of the most under rated values of Indiana is just how well their DBs tackle. It really stuck out to me against OSU but it showed again against Bama. Those guys simply don't miss tackles.

the thing I noticed about indiana is the players are all focused...it's like they are in a cult..then cignetti stares into the distant during interviews...it's like scientologists and branch devidians combined with isis

Yeah meanwhile our guy is always seeking a laugh. And looking for clicks. And zip lining. And playing dress up with his hat. All while counting his money. Which one are you taking more seriously?

something is going on, cause if it's money, talent, winning history and coaching, why wouldn't bama and osu beat them?

Well, it's money. Connect the dots. Mark Cuban bought himself a fun new toy by way of NIL. If you follow the Dallas Mavericks at all, he had to have serious seller's remorse. And even HE can't just pluck a professional team out of thin air to buy again. But, for a fraction of the price, he can buy a college sports team. And this one he actually has some ties to. It's his alma mater. He had no ties to Dallas. He's just a sports nerd like a lot of us. He's not a basketball guy. Before he bought the Mavs, he wanted to buy the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. Because he really loves Pittsburgh which is where he's from. And guess where Cignetti is from? Pittsburgh. That's literally what the whole Indiana thing is about. I mean, plus Cig is a HELL of a coach and there were a lot of stars that aligned and all that. But pretty much....Cubes bought himself another championship team. Basically for free (comparatively).

He won't say. He just said it was "a big check" which, I mean, for him could be easily like, seriously, a billion. I think he just sold the Mavs for 10 billion. Which is a fraction of his total net worth. Maybe it was 500 million? I don't know but it's probably A LOT more than anyone out there has who also gives a sh*t about sports the way he does.

tl;dr We don't have it and neither does anyone else

that seems to be the question, as far as focus
money seems to motivate folks more then yelling
especially with the transfer portal

And for the record, Cuban is actually a good guy in real life. And if I had his money, I'd do exactly what he's doing, but just for Nebraska 💯
they need to say how much each team is spending, so folks can get some perspective..if one company is paying twice as much as another there's a logical outcome to that. most times..

Yeah that's the problem with collage football right now. There are no parameters.

maybe they get performance bonuses too...like in the playoffs..
I'm not happy with getting our *** kicked the last 3 games, I'm just not sure if I want to blow the whole thing up again..
I guess we will see if there's portal money....or not...

it was interesting a tony altmore, crunched numbers and found sec teams depended alot more on sports money then big 10 schools...who seemed more grant based...so I suppose the sec will have to go all in on the portal to keep that money rollin in.

I glossed over something I read yesterday and didn't pay much attention to it, but apparently the win by Cig over Bama (could be the win total) automatically included a clause in Cig's contract to make him the #3 highest paid coach in college football. Sorry, I don't remember where I read it, but seems to make sense.

If so, performance bonuses are the way to go for coaches.
Win and get paid more, don't win and have a lesser contract. Kinda like real life.....

Alabama used to have some wicked practices under Saban, and if he wasn't satisfied with the prior game and following practices, on Thursday's now and then he'd pull a hundred play scrimmage out, just two days before the next game, no doubt Cig absorbed all of that into his thinking when he was at Alabama.

I have a friend who is an Indy fan and from what he gathers, practices for the Hoosier's seem to be quite intense at times, which brings to mind the old adage, you play how you practice.
