There's much more about softball I don't know than what I do. But it was really instructive to see the Cats play in this weekend's tournament at Univ of Houston. They played five games and won them all in everything from a walk-off squeaker to an 11-3 blowout today.

They appeared to be playing respectable teams (again, I know zilch about rankings, etc.) in Iowa State, Penn State, Houston, and Lipscomb. But the Wildcats were hot.

It was obviously not new to others who have followed the softball team but it was really interesting to have a close look at how the Drohan twins coordinate with each other and other staff members.

It's a long Big 10 season ahead but two wins over Penn State (one by game-shortened 13-0 score) suggest the team will at least be competitive and may be stronger in conference play.

Softball really seems to be on a tear right now. Best potential season since the final four seasons?
Could be. Sharon Drysdale had a great run (640-512-3) but Kate Drohan has been even better (532-326-1). Wonder what they'll name after her?
