If it's true that we're not sending a number of starters, I wish we would just go back to the midlands. The training cycle excuse is valid, but good luck getting teams to come in the future if they don't know if the host team will even send their starters.
Where is this being reported at?

Posted it where? I didn’t see anything in this thread.
I can't remember where it was posted (probably buried in the recruiting thread for no particular reason) but I have seen that bandied about on this board. This would be a terrible decision IMO, however I'm holding judgement until next week when things become more clear on who will be wrestling.

We do have a meet 5 days later. The most interesting thing about this tournament will be seeing redshirting freshman competing to get an idea how they are coming along. They need to really lower the ticket prices if they want a big crowd in the future.
More like they need to get better competition if they want a big crowd in the future. Gladly pay for good competition… wont go for free if it has minimal quality.

Gable didn't ***** foot his wrestlers around like this. We host our own tournament because we are scared of the competition elsewhere and we aren't going to send all of our starters to our own tournament? Well we all knew PSU is way ahead of us. Now Ohio State has clearly passed us. We lose to Iowa State. Next year and for the foreseeable future we will be behind Okie State also. When will Tom's apologists get a clue and say enough is enough?

That is not why we host our own tournament. Not even close, actually.

But I have to agree with you otherwise.

You understand that TNT not "pussyfooting" their wrestlers is exactly what they get criticized for?

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I would rather see more starters go at the Soldier Salute and sit against Wisconsin then vice versa. Particularly 133, 157, and 174. The dual won’t be close anyways.

Drake has plenty of tough matches already. Would rather see him work his offense in the tournament. The other two weights, let’s try and settle the 157 and 174 spots and get it over with. Not that my opinion matters.

I’m not convinced PK having poor strategy in one match puts him in jeopardy of losing his spot in his final year. Especially with the rough off season Gabe had. I am looking forward to seeing Gabe wrestle at 174.

Drake is Drake. He is a 5th year senior, and isn’t going to suddenly expand his offensive repertoire drilling with low ranked opponents at the Soldier Salute. That being said, against high level opponents he has his slide-by, which is an awesome weapon, but is well-scouted. Just like ADS had his fireman’s, if you have good skills and can avoid that move, you have a good chance of beating him. Going to the SS isn’t changing that.

Slide by when its there but main offense from neutral is a single leg attack. And he is very good at it.

Wrong. See above. And his timing and spacing feel off. That’s something that ebbs and flows for many wrestlers. More match reps can absolutely help.

Man… don’t know if anyone is keeping up with Midlands but Chittum didn’t even place in a somewhat mediocre 165 bracket. Crazy how he just fell off throughout the years.

Before entering into college I surely thought he was going to be a multi AA at minimum and at least in the finals throughout his collegiate career. Sad man.

At one point I thought he may be a multiple time champ. Guess we dodged a bullet. Biggest bust in a while.
