the upcoming recruiting classes are BAU for PSU every single year...and now OSU isnt far behind. The issue with the current regime is their inability to develop their wrestlers in anything but top/bottom wrestling. The scrambling and finishing on this team is dreadful and it doesn’t seem to get better being in this room.
The only thing keeping me off the fire TNT train is the upcoming recruiting classes, but even then it’s getting hard to defend them.
I think finishing sixth behind these five teams is a likely scenario. You don’t think there is any scenario barring injury where we finish behind PSU, OSU, tOSU, ISU and Nebraska? I wish I could say the same.
He's only 4, but he beat me 2 out of 3. No full splits or double birds, but I think there was definitely some farting, which I protested. The troll in me hopes he beats you, then goes full splits and double birds on you....
Turns out it was a ton more fun than the tournament. This board is going to be tons of fun this weekend…. Lol.
Too funny Tarp!!He's only 4, but he beat me 2 out of 3. No full splits or double birds, but I think there was definitely some farting, which I protested.
1 million percent correct. Control freak coaching doesn't teach such tom foolery shenanigans. Get out there and hand fight to your death because it worked for me
Harvey was sheltered at the first tournament this year and was not put in the open division. Hopefully he takes a big step in January. He has good hips just needs to learn to use them on bottom and finish his shots.Well, I'm in a foul mood after watching that steaming pile of a tournament. But here are my thoughts with as few curse words as possible.
125: Looking forward to DeLuca.
141: There should be a Lemon Law for NIL guys that underperform as badly as Bailey. He's like a car you drive off the lot and 10 miles down the road the transmission falls out. As for Peterson, he's competent, but not slick, strong, or tough enough to ever compete at NCAAs.
149-157: Not impressed with Voinovich brothers. See Peterson, above. Williams needed the matches and wrestled decent--2 top-20-ish wins, but didn't dominate. He gets a "Pass."
174: Arnold blew it. Can't settle for coin-flip matches with mid-AAs. That was an R12 match. Didn't he just say how much he blew it at NCCAs? He just went out and wrestled the same way. Stop talking if you don't mean it. On the positive side, he showed he is in good shape at 174, didn't tire. He just has to step on the gas--don't stop at R12, like too many other Iowa guys in recent history. Set your sights at being the 174 CHAMP next year. If he wrestled with that mindset he would've won handily.
197: Mixed reviews on Ludington. Generally wrestled well, shows potential on his feet. BUT he's got to improve A LOT if he's going to be the man at 197 for the next 4 years. This is not the '80s where you've got 2-3 years to ease into AA range. This is the 2020s, where guys are contenders right out of high school. Right now Ludington is looking like a #30-ranked guy. He's gotta believe he can be an NCAA champ NOW and wrestle with that mindset. Or he's gonna spend 4 years in the lineup and end up a 1X AA. We can't afford that. We need him to be a finalist next year, not an R12. In any case, he needed matches and he got them.
Overall, lots of mediocre wrestling in a mostly-empty arena. National Duals were great. Lots of terrific wrestling and top-notch early-season competition. Keep that on the schedule, and kill the Soldier Salute, which no longer serves a purpose. But don't host a party and then not show up. That just burns bridges, which seems to be our forte.
I'm gonna go wrestle with my kid and try to erase Soldier Salute from my memory.
Who is your connection in the wrestling world letting you know this info that you failed on? Might think about getting a new source.Knox is close to signing with North Carolina.

It happens, things change suddenly with NIL $ and 18 year old's. Doesn't mean it wasn't inside info at the time. I am sure Ramos was pushing hard. I dont want to discourage anyone for sharing what privy info they may have at that time out of fear of being ridiculed later on. Otherwise guys like Goblin would never open up. Id rather people share on message boards.Who is your connection in the wrestling world letting you know this info that you failed on? Might think about getting a new source.
Buchannan is the perfect workout partner for Harvey to develop with. Top notch talent and a great rider to work on his bottom issues. Nobody he faces next year will be better than who is in his own room. That should have huge benefits for him. He should have a ton of upside with another year in the Iowa room. Time will tell.I like his upside. I hope we develop him. Ive always had the opinion you start seeing it in the 2nd year in the room. Its either going to show itself or not. Basically the Tony Ramos projection path. So no panic. Getting out from bottom is tougher the higher the weight. I am sue he will figure it but man, Buchannan must be riding him for hours at a time right now.
From the practice videos I see, looks like he goes with Angelo a lot.Buchannan is the perfect workout partner for Harvey to develop with. As predicted when I started this thread.Turns out it was a ton more fun than the tournament.
Soooo.. I think 6th is too high of a prediction at this point. Top 10?
