My mother and father are buried in Eastern Kentucky. It will always be home to me. No matter how bad some fools on here think it is, it still better than 99% of the world with some of the best people ion the planet.
Traveled over there for forty years
Amen!

Legalized HEMP. It will grow on any ground. It also supersedes Marijuana. Supersedes means
takes over a field of Marijuana.

The only reason it has not passed in congress is because on the plastic rope makers, the loggers
and the corn farmers.

Why not create a huge wall along I-75 and the border states and make EKY a giant prison for the whole country? Make all of it a no-fly zone so the president's plane wouldn't crash there.

I worked in EKY for a while back in the day, And I can tell you, some of the Kindest, Sweetest , Honest, Hard working people i have ever met lived there. But having said that, it is a very depressing place ( at least to me) and i couldn't live there if they gave me the nicest house in town.

I have a ton of family buried up there and worked in the mines of Harlan Co. When my son was born, I told my wife we were getting out of there. I didn't want my kids putting down roots there. There are not enough opportunities to sustain a workforce. It was the best decision I ever made.

There are some of the best people you could ever meet up there....just not enough of them. No one that is objective could call anybody a fool for stating how bad it is there. It is horrible in the economic sense also in the "redneck" and trashy sense.

I was offered a good paying job to go back there years ago and I didn't hesitate to turn it down.

You can grow Hemp in Kentucky. You need to be registered and a few other things, but have been able to since 2014.

If this thread has taught me anything it's that people who are not from an area really have nothing relative to contribute to a conversation about that specific location. It's like me trying to tell people in Arizona how to improve their communities when I have never been there.

Glad to report coal is making a small come back.
