Your program has had some experience firing successful coaches, Curry took a GT team that was 1-9-1 and 1-10 his first two years to a bowl game four years later, and took Bama from 7 wins his first year to 9 and 10 wins before being run off. His last year he had a 10-1 regular season record before losing to Miami in a bowl game, and I think the U was a real power then. IIRC he had TWO COY conference awards and one of the NCOTY awards.

His problem was his regular season loss was to Auburn, and he couldn't beat them, BUT Auburn had a very good program those years.

What I find amazing about Curry is that BOTH GT and Bama won a NC three years after he left, using the senior class he recruited (plus redshirts and injured he recruited) while he started at UK with a 4-7 record and left with a 4-7 record. But despite denials UK was a "basketball school" only, support wise (not fan wise) and stayed that way support wise until the fan strike AND the availability of huge sums made available from the success of football nad the SEC..

Curry wasn't fired at Alabama. Nor was he run off. He was offered a horsecrap contract so he saw the writing on the wall and left. But, if he chooses to sign it, he stays at Alabama at least for another year. That's not the same as getting fired. It's kind of close to the same as being "run off", but not exactly.

It would be hilarious if the cards lost Ramsey, Pitino. possibly even Juritch...went on basketball probation, and then Pitrino bolted too! And for good measure, let's throw in the ncaa finding that football players were involved in the prostitution scandal too!

So we find ourselves, next December, with UK sitting home after losing to Louisville, Mitch standing behind his coach, CBP bolting for Auburn, and Louisville hiring Jeff Brohm. How much angst on this board under that scenario?

You started off with a very questionable assumption and went downhill from there.

I know he didn't get fired, but I think most would agree he was run off,

I'm not sure I would like to work at any job where I wasn't wanted or appreciated. And UK was an SEC school with a pretty good fan base and some recent success, although short lived. I'm pretty sure they didn't tell him about the support he would (wouldn't) get until later in the game.

Bobo is a good guy, his offenses at UGA put up some big numbers late. But he could make some of the worst calls at times you could ever see. His last year we are down by 3 1st and goal on the 4. Keep in mind we had Todd Gurley and Nick Chubb as RBs, we run a naked bootleg, get called for intentional grounding and neither of the backs get a touch, we lose by 3. They would have had to stop me 4 times with those backs. But I hope the best for him and he does well for CSU.

The Hope scholarship, funded by the lottery, has enabled many more kids in Georgia to go to college that couldn't pre Hope. Kids have to have a medium B average in HS, maybe 3.5 gpa, which increased applications by the 1000's and allowed UGA to be much more selective. They would have doubled over laughing at my SAT score from 1971 if it were on an application today, but was welcomed with open arms back then. Sadly my son scored 300 points higher than me as a 7th grader, lol

You know government can sometimes do good things. We here chose to spend our lottery money on something which is dear to all our hearts, protecting our spectacular natural environment. But, before my time here, Colorado made the decision to put money and resources behind technology. It's why they had two graduate level programs which attracted the attention of a boy from SE Kentucky who was appalled by the horror's of strip mining in an area which is also spectacularly beautiful. And my HS grades sucked. My test not so much, and proved to be the better judge. The aptitude was there, it was the effort which was lacking. Until I went to my beloved University of Kentucky!

Bobby ain't leaving Louisville for Auburn...mucuh easier road to playoffs in the Ville. Auburn is a tough job. BP has it made in Louisville... Plus he is a choir boy compared to Pitino now.
Bobby is banned from coaching in the SEC. Take that for what it's worth but the president of the SEC after the Ark. debacle made it clear that all schools where too steer clear.

You aren't familiar with how Auburn operates. Paying for recruits, setting up independent studies for athletes is also banned by the SEC, AU ignored those two bans too. No idea who AU goes after, but a majority of their fans want Bobby.

That's blacklisting and I'm not sure schools can openly do that. However, schools can hire, or not hire, whomever they wish. A wink-wink nudge-nudge would work better.

Well, you're a man who is adept at envisioning worst case scenarios! One would imagine that you have a great deal of recent practice, considering the hammer hanging over the Louisville athletic program at this point in time. Let's just say that, even in your gloom and doom scenario- there will be less angst than there is currently is, on and around, Floyd Street.

With that said, I am not too concerned about your scenario coming to pass. We could very lose to Louisville, but it may be a situation where a win would not have meant a bowl anyway; or, a situation where not even the loss would prevent it. Moreover, absent an absolute collapse, I WANT to have Mitch standing behind Stoops at that point. But I am not really that worried about Honest Bob getting the Auburn job. Louisville was the only power Five school to give that guy a sniff two plus years ago, and I can't envision that changing anytime soon . Too high of a buyout, too much baggage, not enough success in his second go-round, too many other viable options for Auburn- all reasons for Auburn to look elsewhere. And, if it does happen, and if UofL hires Brohm? The chances of a successful coach at a midmajor succeeding at a higher level is a crapshoot. As I recall, Steve Kragthorpe looked pretty good coming from Tulsa.

Well put, you beat me to it!
