3rd game of the year. November 11. On the road against a team that was hitting 3’s at a high level. I’ve seen UK teams struggle to beat mid majors in November at Rupp.
I’m not going to say we played great, and I was expecting a win. Here’s the thing: UL is better than I thought they were, but if we get them again in March or April, I really like our chances on a neutral court.
There were times we could have folded, but we didn’t. We couldn’t get over the hump tonight. Still, it does nothing to make me think we don’t have a shot to win it all.

I disagree with you on the part about winning it all, this team’s on the ball and interior defense was absolutely deplorable. Louisville played much more cohesively and were tremendously more active defensively. He’s going to have to get Oweh and Lowe on track big time, Oweh is too busy auditioning for the NBA, Pope needs to become a lot more intense with this team, too many guys are sleepwalking.

This is just the nature of message boards.

And while I don't think we need to jump off ledges I will say it does seem to be a theme last year and the start of this year. Even in games where we did eventually come back and beat some good teams, one has to begin to ask the question why we get down so large in these games. That could be alarming to me.

No sir. Idc if it’s the 3rd game or the 30th. We watched our slow perimeter guys get absolutely BLOWN BYE over and over! That’s recruiting and developing NATURALLY TALENTED dogs that want it! Our guys were so slow and soft and that is a total reflection on our coach! Just admit it and we can all move on and know that we have to get better but we aren’t gonna get quicker or faster and that’s all on Pope! He has to recruit better first! We missed on way too many pg’s and then landed Lowe. And we all saw the difference between Lowe and Brown and Conwell tonight. It really is that simple. Their guards torched us all night long.

These false narratives need to stop. 32.5% from 3 is not a high level. We shot 3s at a better clip than them. They missed 6 free throws in a row down the stretch and we didn't score a single point, including watching our "NPOY candidate" embarrass himself trying to go iso.

We aren’t bad. We are good. Just not one of the best. Roster has issues.
So far yes, but we need a couple things. One we need Oweh healthy. It’s obvious he isn’t 100%. Secondly we need Jasper Johnson to grow up. If he becomes the player he can be then we will have good enough guards to win big. Third we need JQ in the lineup. He will elevate our defense and become an even better pick and roll and rim defender. Clean up some guard problems guarding the ball. Lastly we need Kam To show up more consistently. He finally had a few good plays tonight which is something at least. We all need Lowe to play more to his ceiling.

Some have already decided that we are slow, that Chandler should only see the court as a human cigar after the Georgetown game, Oweh has regressed, etc. Not worth reading as you can only get dumber, so I wont. Unreadable babble.

If we combine this loss with our Purdue Exhibition win it's basically a wash! Tonight's game leaves me with nothing but hope and excitement for the rest of the season.
If you combine the games UK would still be 0-1 in them. There should be hope- teams get better between November and March.

It’s Louisville. Fans are going to be upset losing to them. What’s so hard to comprehend about this?

Everyone will be upset for a few days and then move on to the next game. We don’t need some holier than thou speech.

It‘s a message board. This is what fans do. It’s not unusual or complicated.

That’s a lot of needs. I’m not sure Oweh isn’t healthy. His mistakes last night (turnovers from being a bull in a China shop) aren’t caused from someone playing hurt. I think the team is a lot like Oweh. Capable of being really good, but also capable of being really average.

Okay, so I'm gonna direct this at you and a lot of other people on the board in good faith.

We've got to stop with the overreacting. Point blank. Louisville played out of their minds at home and we were still in the game in the final minutes despite the fact that our defense had more holes than a sponge at Antietam, that we missed several wide open threes, that we left points on the floor from the charity stripe, that our best player is still on the sideline, and that our guards (sans CC and freshman JJ) are all either injured or coming off of injuries and made boneheaded errors or showed a lack of effort.

Despite *all* of that, we were in that game against a good team that was DESPERATE for a win. Absolutely desperate. You could feel the arena's collective stank hole clench any time UK went on a run.

This team has holes right now because we haven't honed in on our schemes. It's the beginning of the season. We're going to look rough. Everyone is. Even Louisville, playing out of their minds though they were, still had room for improvement.

Shots aren't falling the way they should, but we still shot 35% from three. Any given guy on any given night from 1-3 can give us north of 50% from beyond the arc. We have four guys returning. That's it. One of them didn't play last night and one of them was busted up over the summer. I'm not making excuses. I'm stating facts that contributed to the debacle we saw last night. This team has a ton of moving parts and is still becoming a cohesive unit.

We will be FINE. Dropping a game to our most hated and annoying rival IN GAME THREE doesn't take away from the fact that our roster is, in fact, one of the best in the country. All these flashes we're seeing that lead us to pontificate great potential in our guys doesn't go away just because we played like *** in one early season game. It just doesn't.

I'm frankly tired of the overreach and overreactions after every loss.

Pope's guys either aren't very good at scouting opponents yet or we scout for them, they play differently than expected, and we have to adjust.

Either way, I'd rather us just play our game and impose our will rather than try to guess how others will try to match up against us and finesse it.

I don’t think we aren’t fine. I also think we aren’t great. That’s not an overreaction. An overreaction is constantly pointing to Purdue when this game and Georgetown also occurred. It doesn’t mean we suck or aren’t good. Just means we are probably not all that great either. I’d say a tick better than last year.

Losing to UL is not fun but some folks are acting like we weren't missing our best shooter, Noah, and best big, Quaintance. Is there work to do? Sure. But I think this team has all the pieces.

I also think we aren’t great.
And respectfully, that's where I think we're overreacting. Call it how you see it, by all means, but last year's team made it to the Sweet Sixteen even with all the odds stacked against them in the best year of college basketball in a decade or more.

I’d say a tick better than last year.
And this is why I think it's an overreaction. Last year's team, again, made it to the second weekend despite having one point guard who was half dead, a PF with a mucked spine in Carr, and three other options at PG/wing outside of CC completely out of commission. You say that we're marginally better this year than last. That's Indianapolis-level good in the grand scheme of things, so I don't understand tempering expectations based on extremely poor and uncharacteristic play in one early season game against a really good opponent.

That's my 2¢. Again, all in good faith.

The fact that everyone associated with the team has alluded to that. Practice will make its way into a game sooner rather than later.
Meh. We have had many practice superstars who never did squat in games. I like Noah but just don't see him as a great shooter at this stage.

He can’t be taken seriously. Look at his agenda against Chandler. He moves tbe goalposts when he’s wrong like a 7 year old. Use ignore often.
