Someone needs to build a time machine for Pat Spencer

i have been pleasantly surprised by the contributions Spencer has made to the team this year. Every time I watch him play, though, I think about how good he would have been in the years before the 3-point shot was added. With the sets compressed like they were then, his ability to use his body for leverage combined with his midrange jumper would have made him a true go to guy. I also think, with the way the game was played closer to the basket, that he would have gotten a high number of rebounds on balls that carom.
He skill set reminds me just a little of Quinn Buckner, and I think he could have been a Buckner like player with those rules.
I would have loved to see him play in a back court with Billy McKinney.

He's done remarkably well for a guy who is playing in one of the toughest leagues in the country after not playing college basketball in previous years. He's obviously a very good athlete. The Cats are having, as Bill Raftery might put it, an unattractive season, but it probably would look even worse without Spencer's contributions.

We would be a markedly worse team without him. Surprised that turns out to be the case, but it's a credit to him that it is.
