For the spike. People , yours truly included , shell out a lot of coin for tickets and donations to this program . You expect things to be run competently . Someone needs to be held accountable for last night's disaster . Fire someone , bench someone etc . But this is Rutger and we will try to go 0-1 next week
We went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the country. Stop whining.

The OP can't accept the reality that we lost so he has to play the blame game. As noted by other posters above, Games are not won or lost by one play, and it would've been extremely unlikely to score after the sack with the clock ticking down with less than 10 seconds.

Total BS.
Close games are usually decided by one or two key plays during pivotal moments of the game.

Are you normally an entitled brat? You pay for entertainment and last night was a very entertaining game.

Are you actually blaming this loss on the last play????? LOL! Blame not having ANY timeouts, like we've seen a gazillion times from this coaching staff. Blame the defense for not stopping Connor Cook on that last drive or forcing their very weak kicker into a FG. But as much as it's easy to blame Laviano, that last play didn't cost us the game. Geez.

Douchey spelling. Douchey grammar. Douchey post.

I hold you accountable for last night's "disaster."

We probably don't score on a Hail Mary . But the spike should not have happened . Some accountability is not a bad thing .

"Even if Laviano did spike the ball on 4th down, the chances RU throws a 50+ yard TD on a Hail Mary were very slim.
Some are acting like it's a forgone conclusion RU would have scored. Give me a break."

and some act as if it's a forgone conclusion that the Hail Mary couldn't work...

Tying the game would have been a miracle, but it happens. Even with a weak arm, there's nothing to say he couldn't hit someone 35 yards deep who scrambles into the endzone. What the last two plays did was eliminate the chance. I don't agree with the OP about someone needs to be held accountable, but teams do win and tie games on Hail Mary passes. Let's not kid ourselves, it happens every year.
It's a foregone conclusion that the Hail Mary wouldn't work because they would not have gotten it off it time.

I don't really care about the spike, I was more pissed that one of the thrown passes was a 5 yard throw when we needed to move the sticks on each play in order to stop the clock. Anything under 10 yards in that position is stupid.

I don't think anyone needs to be accountable. This is not the issue to focus on. Focus on Laviano making too many of these kind of mistakes during the games. He needs to clean them up but no this play really didn't effect the outcome of the game.

If we had Sanu, the Hail Mary and resultant 2 point conversion would have been a lock. Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

Okay fine. I admit it. It's my fault.

I'm one of the loser mentality fans that prefers to focus on the positives instead of wallowing in the misery of the negatives. And because of my attitude, because I have a sense of perspective about sports and my world doesn't end when we lose, and because I don't whine like a spoiled first grader about everything all the time (which is what, apparently, passes for a "winning" attitude around here), the spike was unarguably entirely my fault.

By way of punishment, I will beat the ever loving crap out of my cardiovascular system by grilling up the leftover sirloin steak from the tailgate and eating it for lunch today.

What does "Plum Street" even mean? Still waiting.
He says it's a street in NB. But I kind of think he was intending to use Peter Gabriel's excellent song "Mercy Street" as inspiration but was just as stoned when he was creating his board name as he was when he created this thread.

I truly admire your sense of duty and responsible in assuming the burden of that spike and punishing yourself in such a manner. Your noble self-sacrifice well represents our school and will go far in convincing future four and five star recruits to select Rutgers as their dream school.

If we had Sanu, he would've caught the errant spike before it hit the ground and run it for a TD to win the game.

I admit to the slight possibility that I may have put Sanu on a bit of a unrealistic pedestal since his time here on the banks. LOL

trolling...trolling....trolling....trolling
One too many "trolling"s.

Let's start again. Trolling, trolling, trolling; keep the football rolling.

I leave it as an exercise for the reader to fill in the next line. Also, I couldn't really think of a good word that rhymes with trolling/rolling and is contextually appropriate.

3 seconds on the clock. Team not yet lined up. The spike is meaningless. Great game. Great play calling, great crowd, great everything. Anybody who is called to account for anything in that game gets a A from me! Sometimes you lose.
