Something I considered about OU and next season.....

No doubt OU is losing some talent from recruiting de-commitments, transfers and the NFL, but I believe there are players on the roster.....many of them....that have not yet made a name for themselves, but will with a new head coach and his staff that will develop them better, motivate them better, teach them better and toughen them up.
I can't see this scenario NOT happening.
I also believe Riley's exit has come at the perfect time as OU preps itself for the SEC competition in the not-too-distant future.
Riley's absence should be considered "addition by subtraction".
I see OU playing much better next season than it would have had Riley continued his half-a$$ed coaching, that he's taken to the land of fruits and nuts.

I agree with you CT. All you have to do is look at offensive rankings last 3 years, Lebby vs Riley. It’s no contest.

I'm referring to players like:
WR's....Farooq, Jackson, Darby
QB's....Rucker, Bowens
LB's....Smith, Walker, Morris, Whitter, Stutsman
DL'S....Kibonge, Downs
DB's....Bowman, Harmon, Mukes, McCutchin, Criddell
Among a few others.

The big hit is at DT. Losing our best commit in years at that position did not help. I hope the transfer portal or community college options open up for us. Unsure if BV will shop the portal though.

The non-conference schedule next year is a little bit weaker than usual, which is a good thing bringing in a new coaching staff. The first two games are home against UTEP and Kent State, which will give the players and new coaching staff a chance to get acclimated before going on the road in what will be a tough game against Nebraska.

All I want to see is better football. You can tell when you’re watching if it’s going the right way. Win-loss isn’t always the best barometer, IMO.

I think Key Lawrence can be nasty in Venables D as well. He seems to have that type of attutude

Reggie Grimes will be a beast in Venables D. And Key Lawrence will be an imposing strong safety. Develop McCutchen and he and Woodi and Graham will be a great CB rotation. Need to fill the defensive line.

They better be taught how to do this with the strictest Control and Discipline, next year especially. Getting through the XII next year will be the same fight with the stripes that we saw in 21 if not even harder. That we won 10 games in spite of the weak Linc was a mini miracle

It is interesting that OU lost the two games that ensured Lincoln could leave at the end of regular season to get started on his new job a week early. Humm!

motivation comes from within. coaches don't motivate, they create an environment in which the motivated thrive. bobby was certainly great at that in his way, but so was staid bill snyder. lou holtz once famously said: you want a motivated team, get rid of the unmotivated.

If coaches "create an environment in which motivation thrive" then they START the motivational process.

I predict before it's all said & done that Danny Stutsman will make All American. He will thrive under Venables defense.

Hope so.
And there are other young LB's like Shane Whittier, Clayton Smith, Joseph Wete, and Jamal Morris who stand to benefit from the new coaches. And 4-star Kip Lewis is still committed out of Cathage, Texas.
I expect Kobe Mckenzie to remain on Venables' efforts to sway him back.
