I nominate Kentucky's own Chris Knight, for "The Damn Truth". This song and "Crooked Mile" off his new album are better than anything else I've heard in the last 6 months. To be considered, it has to have been released 9/1/19 or after (Grammy rules).

Great dude. I have a personal story of Chris Knight. He played at my uncles party after winning re-election for Judge Executive of Hopkins Co. a few years ago. It was out at the American Legion in Madisonville. Super nice, down to earth dude. He sat at our table the whole night when he wasn't singing.

The last crowd I was in was a Chris Knight show on 2/29. I've spoken to him at a few shows, but can't say I know him. He has a pretty big following here in Texas.

Pretty decent song but, I hope for all our sakes, that it's not the best song of the year. Nothing against the song, but I was not blown away as I expected.

He's pretty darn good. One of the better 'new' artists in the past several years. He's different, probably a little difficult to slot into a specific genre for the music industry execs, but his music is consistently solid.

Nice song. Sounds very, VERY similar to any number of Mellancamp songs from the 80s though. Has a very 35 year-old sound to it. But it isn't as if some country / folk artists in the mid 80s weren't at that time getting by on early 50s popular music genre. I liked it okay. That's the damn truth.
