"I Just Called to Say I Love You" The one Stevie Wonder song I despise.
Barry's Customer: Hi, do you have the song "I Just Called To Say I Love You?" It's for my daughter's birthday.

Barry: Yea we have it.

Barry's Customer: Great, Great, can I have it?

Barry: No, no, you can't.

Barry's Customer: Why not?

Barry: Well, it's sentimental tacky crap. Do we look like the kind of store that sells I Just Called to Say I Love You? Go to the mall.

Rob, top five musical crimes perpetuated by Stevie Wonder in the '80s and '90s. Go. Sub-question: is it in fact unfair to criticize a formerly great artist for his latter day sins, is it better to burn out or fade away?

I used to love Springsteen, but I get that he is over the hill and after 40 years, even his best stuff just doesn't do it for me. But he is still an all timer.

But to get back to the OP, anything by these God Awful girl singers, Katy Perry, Adele, and all the platinum blonde country singers (except Miranda Lambert, kind of like some of her stuff). It all sounds like it was written by GE executives who want to sell a ton of records to 13 year old girls.

"Happy" by Pharrell Williams
"Gangnam Style"
and - what's the one that's so popular now? "Uptown Funk?"

Agree with Gangnam Style and Uptown Funk. 'Happy' is straight out of 1960's Motown, plus it's a childrens song for a childrens movie. Ignore the vocals and concentrate on the melody and you can picture the Funk Brothers laying down that beat. Only thing wrong with it is that it was overplayed.

The bad part is also that Pharrell is an awful live singer. Like historically bad. Great producer and writer, though.

Yep, he NEEDS his vocals processed in the studio. His performance at the Brit music awards was cringe-worthy, but Nile Rodgers (as usual) saved the day.

Hotel California or Sweet Home Alabama.

I've heard them so many times that I switch at the first note.

Hard to argue with those two, although I could add about 250 more off the top of my head that have been on "classic FM radio" since about 1985

Like so many others Happy was sooooo overplayed it drove me insane just to hear the first few notes. But, if you recall back in the 80s, Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy" had pretty much the same problem - but if you really listened to it and realized every bit of that song was his vocals, it's actually kind of impressive. Bobby McFerrin is actually a brilliant musician. But I hate that song, LOL

Time to add some R&B flavor to this list.

"We Are Family" Lots of family reunions held here. Every damn one of them plays this song.
"I Just Called to Say I Love You" The one Stevie Wonder song I despise.
Anything by Mariah Carey

I'm with you on those Ghost. I'd like to add "Ladie's Night" and unfortunately "September", "Boogie Wonderland" and "Let's Groove". I used to love most EWF but they are just so played out.
Oh man, "Brick House" is another. I bet I've heard it begin thousands of times on radio stations the last ten years. The station is usually switched before the first "Mmm".

This applies to 99.9% of the songs or artists listed in the thread. In fact, I'd say it is the biggest problem with a lot of good songs.

The one EWF track I can listen to on loop forever is 'Sun Goddess'. I will never tire of listening to that one. Never. Number 2 on the list is 'New World Symphony'. For those who have never heard it...here 'tis:

Beyond some of the ones that have already been mentioned.
Anything by Sheryl Crow (I do like the Kid Rock duet though)

I Hope You Dance, is the most annoying song ever.

3) Do You Feel Like I Do

How did "Frampton" ever happen to begin with? Even today, when I hear that 70s concert crapola, it amazes me how it ever got so popular.

There's this horrendous country song out there with the lyrics "you ain't in love with him, break up with him." It is by far the worst song I've heard in a decade.

Whoever sings it is the epitome of **** bro country.

Break up with him is one of the dumbest songs I've heard in a long long long time.

I'm sure everyone has a song or two (or more) that you absolutely hate. What is the one song that you instantly have to change the station when you hear it? For me right now it is Hello by Adele. As soon as she says hello I say goodbye and change it. It could be a good song, but I just can't get past the first word.

For me it is Blue Oyster Cult in "Don't Fear the Reaper". I used to love this song until I really paid attention to the lyrics and found it promoted teen suicide. After than I've never been able to listen to it.

Lyrics
All our times have come
Here, but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
(We can be like they are)

Come on baby
(Don't fear the reaper)
Baby take my hand
(Don't fear the reaper)
We'll be able to fly
(Don't fear the reaper)
Baby I'm your man

La, la la, la la
La, la la, la la

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity
(Romeo and Juliet)

40, 000 men and women every day
(Like Romeo and Juliet)
40, 000 men and women every day
(Redefine happiness)
Another 40, 000 coming every day
(We can be like they are)

Come on baby
(Don't fear the reaper)
Baby take my hand
(Don't fear the reaper)
We'll be able to fly
(Don't fear the reaper)
Baby I'm your man

La, la la, la la
La, la la, la la

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone

Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then he appeared
(Saying, "Don't be afraid")

Come on baby
(And she had no fear)
And she ran to him
(Then they started to fly)
They looked backward and said goodbye
(She had become like they are)
She had taken his hand
(She had become like they are)

Come on baby
(Don't fear the reaper)

This song would be better with more cowbell!

I still wish death on her for that terrible Sweet Child O' Mine cover she did.

anything by One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea, or Justin Bieber. Immediate station changer. I wish they'd all die.

Pretty much have to listen to all those and more with my 10 year old daughter into music. She pretty much owns the radio when she is in my vehicle.

For me it is Blue Oyster Cult in "Don't Fear the Reaper". I used to love this song until I really paid attention to the lyrics and found it promoted teen suicide. After than I've never been able to listen to it.
