We heard a lot about this with our recruiting class last year.

How long until we should expect some returns here?

Only 1 of 'em started on our 9-3 2024 squad. I have pretty high hopes for our OL in 2025. The 3 interior spots that will have to be replaced will get occupied by a combination of these: Brubaker, Anderson, Baugh, Babalade.

It's unreasonable to expect a true freshman to come in and be an impact player on OL in the SEC. Hopefully we see some fruit next year though.

I was very impressed by Thompson being a starter at LT (blind side of QB) for the majority of the season as a true freshman. He's gonna be as good as advertised.

Tearing the wall down.
Looking at 2022, guys that should be developed by now and counted on, in 2025, seems like Henry and Brubaker are just always injured. I remember Brubaker being a state champion level swimmer or something , and thinking his development, would be interesting, but seems like he is always hurt and Henry unfortunately always gets hurt during the season when he is being counted on, that class has not contributed much outside of when Henry did actually play, before getting hurt.

Grayson Mains plays for Temple, playing center, hmmm, we could of used a center last year, :)

2025 (Redshirt Junior, Temple): Recognized with preseason third team All-American Conference honors (Athlon's Sports) ... began season as team's starting center and appeared in every game ... served as a team captain (Georgia Tech) ... hurt during practice and ended his streak of 10 consecutive games started vs Tulane but still played the majority of the game at center ... lettered.

2024 (Redshirt Sophomore): Started the first nine games at center before an injury at Tulane forced him out of the following game ... returned at guard in the season finale ... lettered.

College: Played two seasons at South Carolina.

I’m less concerned with Oline than I am running back. We’ve got backs right now that will take what you give them (if they see it, usually don’t), not a fruitful recipe for any team outside the top 3-4 teams in the country, if that. The truly successful teams have a back, a Rocket Sanders, a Kevin Harris, a Mario Anderson, that take what you DON’T give them and then some more. Yes play calling, blocking, etc, but if a back can’t feel an opening and get past first touch then he’s just going through the motions. It’s my opinion that the offense this year was suffering from a lack of that running back more so than Oline or play calling. The guys we have now ain’t gonna cut it regardless of OC.

I don't remember exactly when it was in the game or who the back was, but it was the Clemson game. We called what seemed to be an inopportune run play. I don't think I've ever seen a RB run so directly and so hard into a defender. And it wasn't a defender making a great play to stuff the back. It was like there was an irresistable gravitational force pulling the RB directly into the defender.

Of course, the RB was running where the play was designed to go, consequences be da*ned. Yeah, the OL sucked, but you're not gonna have a gaping hole every play. Rocket would have cut outside and gained a yard or few on that play.

That’s what I mean. I guess they’re more focused on ‘assignments’ than they are actually playing the game to win; making football plays is what wins games, not robotics.

I thought this would be about building a wall to reduce the number of people relocating to SC. :)
Seems a good place to start.
