Sorry if this has been discussed in the past but who is your favorite guitar player?

For me It is hard to pick one but Stevie Ray Vaughan would probably be my favorite with Eddie Van Halen coming in a close second.

Townshend. I don't believe in the concept of there being a "best" musician so thank you for asking for a favorite instead. "Best at what?" is always my question back to people who want to say Jimi Hendrix or whoever is "the best"? Anyway, I'd rather listen to Townshend punish an acoustic or wail on an electric than just about anyone. Rock on...

It's changed for me over the years

For a LONG time Jimmy Page was at the top of my list
Then Alex Lifeson
Then I got into some types of jazz and found George Benson

then I decided to go back and really listen to older blues players and 'discovered' my love for - Freddie King, Otis Rush and Elmore James

I did get Tommy Iommi's autograph in 1993 when I saw Black Sabbath in Japan

For just their PERSONALITIES I really like Joe Walsh and Rik Emmett

And - Vince Gill is a bad mofo

Also REALLY like Dean DeLeo from STP and saw them here recently in Tucson

if I can ONLY pick one though --- then I'm picking ME
:scream:

In no order:

Randy Rhoads
Slash
Tony Iommi
Dave Mustaine
Marty Friedman
Dimebag
Jeff Waters
Gary Holt
Alex Skolnick
Jerry Cantrell

If I had to pick one, it's probably Slash because I love his tone even though most of the guys on my list are more "technically" gifted.

Just because

SRV!

When I first watched his concert video “Live At The El Mocambo” it pretty much changed my view of guitar players. Video was shot during a performance at The El Mocambo club in Toronto in 1983. Jaw-dropping Stuff! Best guitar player that has ever lived, IMVHO!

In no particular order, as each has their own style and can blow you away on any given track.

Clapton
Jimi
Gary Clark Jr.
Nils Lofgren
Keith Urban
