New York state and city officials plan to close some streets in the nation’s largest city and may close parks and playgrounds there to contain the coronavirus outbreak as cases across the state surge to 30,811, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday.

He said city residents aren’t following the state’s guidelines encouraging people to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from each other, which he said was “effective and necessary” to slow hospitalization rates.

“We remain deeply concerned about New York City and the New York metro area,” Dr. Deborah Birx said at a press briefing Tuesday. She said about 56% of all U.S. cases and 31% of all fatalities in the United States are concentrated in the metropolitan area.

Yet....many of our board health experts think we should focus on the Southeastern states.

Yes, a big problem is the mixed messaging coming out from different places which some people either totally ignoring the state guidelines or they don't know the state guidelines and they are following improper messaging from all kind of sources. So, he acted further today. Good and yes, very much too late to do as much good as it would have if certain things haven't happened in the past two months. But changing what isn't working to something different, that is a good thing and is what leaders should do. Keep flexible and listen to the health experts while using power to make a difference.

"Wait a second,I'm not dead"
"Thunk!!!"
"No, still alive and feeling quite chiperrr"
"Thud!"
"He looks dead now. Want to stop at the pub for pint?"
"Sounds all right."
"Make it three!"

I heard they started taking down backboards and locking gates going into playgrounds.
