South Davidson Makes HC Hire

And it looks to be a good hire as South Davidson has picked former Newton Conover coach Brint Russell to be their head man.

Rusell had two years off but he was a head coach in Teneseee for 6 years and moved back here in 2012 to be the head man at Newton Conover. He went 9-4 and won the CVC conference in his season at NC.

For a school down like South is that is a great hire for them to get a coach with that much experience head coaching with winning programs in to try to improve theirs. He has a lot of work ahead but I hope to see them improve. Gotta love underdog stories like that.

He needs to be teaching weight lifting and be guaranteed that all his FB players are in his WL program for their entire 4 years if he wants to see any improvement. Otherwise it will be business as usual. No knock on him but you can be the best coach in the world and you don't get help from the administration you are fighting a forest fire without any water.

Congratulations to South Davidson on the hiring of Brint Russell. He is the kind of coach who can win but above all he cares about his players. Newton-Conover has a major problem in that the administration is not supporting the football coaches. Why do you think the coach before Russell left after making back to back state championship appearances and winning one. The people making decisions about football are non athletes who want parity in high school sports. Football is by far the leader in revenue intake and helps pay for the non revenue sports. As for someone who tries to belittle Coach Russell it is because of bruised egos and jealousy. Support Coach Russell and South Davidson will have great days ahead.
