Sucks for them, it's supposed to snow Friday. 200 miles to get whooped, in the snow....
Believe it or not we have snow here in other parts of NC. They will get whooped as you say but SD kids are notoriously tough and snow will not phase them lol. You are likely to find them out fishing on the lakes or hunting in the snow in the Uwharrie Mountains most days.

While Ive have seen in playoffs some teams just couldn't seem to handle the cold from lower elevations especially the one that rely on speed and passing I agree that the cold and snow usually doesn't be seem at least if the teams are pretty equal or if it ends up the visiting team is just a lot better. We're all coming out of warmer months so it takes everyone to get reused to the cold.
But as far as snow my daughter lives in the Huntersville area for years which is even higher then Denton and two things she misses is colder summer weather and snow. Denton's elevation is 722' averages under 4" of snow per year and is about 10° to 20° colder then Bakerville -Ledger area as I type this it's 14° warmer there not counting wind chill. Bakerville is 2,470' second highest elevation in the 1A something like 5th in NC in all classification playoffs, averages just under 14" of snow ( used to get a lot more when I was a kid). They probably do get more ice though I hate ice. But I have seen a Mitchell/Avery game in October were they had to ever so often take snow shovels so the teams could see the lines on the field it was snowing so hard I doubt SD has seen that.

We have some pretty big snows down here. I’ve been snowed if for a week almost due to elevation and getting off the hills out here. Snow will mean nothing to South Davidson. They are tough, hard nosed country kids that are all out in the mountains and lakes in the area. They are not city kids, snow will not affect their speed because they have little. Their kids are as tough as Mitchell’s or anyone else’s. They just don’t have much of a program, never have, and aren’t very good at football. That is why Mitchell wins big.

I'm not questioning any boy's toughness that has nothing to with area you live and like I said we're all getting re-acclimated to cold weather right now.
Elevation wise as to weather I've literally crossed a bridge and went from about 2" to 6 or 7 just because they were right under the Roan. One time it snowed and the next day was 45° blue skies in Bakersville drove up to the 5,000 ft level on Roan Mountain and it was 28° snowing a complete white out not a tree limb wasn't white. Once it snowed here about 16"-20" and Boone had 42" now there's a place where winter weather can be a factor.

Colds cold brother you dress for it and once it’s so cold it doesn’t really matter. Feels the same. My wife is from Siberia and I’ve been there at -40. I’ve been here with it in the low teens and a wet snow and it feels just as cold.

My wife was born in South Carolina below Charleston but grew up in Yancey county one time early spring her family from there came.up. I was in short sleeves and they were froze to death had winter coats on.
I just know winter never bothered me actually liked it I was aways hot natured burned up in summer but now taking blood thinners with arthritis covering most of my spine and rheumatoid in my blood I just dread it anymore.

I would never tell anyone I married a green team person. 😀
Well my family had a business in Burnsville for 52 years even had a banner on the football field, he just never moved us because his father gave him land to build a house ,I worked there for 14+ with him and a woman who worked for my dad set us up on a blind date on the second week in January 1989 her senior year at MH we got married that December and she became a Mitchell fan, we had two girls ,the business still has my dad's name on it we sold it in 2003 because my wife was killed in a car wreck Dec 22 2000 and I bought a little business in Bakerville to be closer to the girls. Now I bleed purple but Yancey people greatly supported my families business and Mtn Heritage had some pretty girls when I was young lol.

I may be wrong but I’m sure south is excited enough just to be in playoffs that they may bring a decent crowd. May play hard nose football for a quarter then that will be it. They are deer hunting raise kids so cold won’t bother them but like griddle said it’s the overall program and numbers, 2 kids went to the dressing room at halftime when they played thomasville and never returned

It won’t last long that’s for sure. And doubt many SD fans other than the parents will make the trip.

And you guys will be talking amongst yourselves on this thread. I don't believe anybody from Denton ever comes on here.
Why would they? When was last time SD had a winning season not to mention making the playoffs? Checked MP and it only goes back to 04=05 season and they have not even had .500 season since then, actually only won total of 26 games since that season

At our regular season game their stands were full , 3-5 hundred. I’m just saying they’re excited about being there and i wouldn’t be surprised to see 100 but not 101
I hope they do come. Cold crisp friday night in the Mountains, the leaves in Mitchell county are in full color, and Mitchell's visitor side is one of the best (if not the best) in the state to watch from.

I don’t live up in the Mitchell Co area but have visited. Beautiful country. Maybe one day I will make it up to a Mitchell Co football game. I do have a question. Last time I was up if that area I ate at a restaurant called Helens in town of Bakersville. . Is it still open. I thought the food was pretty good.

No it's been around since way before I was born Helen herself has been retired from it for years and years her daughter owns the building been renting to a certain extent to people serving the same type of food the last owners was a Mexican restaurant who opened it last year which was a bad time to open a new restaurant and they closed a few months ago. Someone is renting it renovating the building and doing something a little odd they'll be serving food basics like hamburgers etc then expanding more dishes like Helen's but also selling satellite dishes and used cars which they were already doing.

Hell, Robbinsville had 2,000 at the state title game in 2014. Thats 25% of our population. Graham 8,000.
We had 7,500 that about 50% of Mitchell county at the 2015 championship of course we're not used to being there like you all lol.
We looked around an was like who's watching the store? Hoping no one's house caught on fire or anything else bad happens back home😂
