I agree that their defense isn't stellar but they have some real speed. They have just as many if not more athletes than Shelby

I agree, West; however, Newton is in far worse shape. At the West game, a deputy warned three N-C fans that he would remove them if they continued threatening the coach......and it was their OWN coach. Newton's in a disarray from which it may take years to recover. I'm sure Pack has reassessed his decision last spring over and over again. And so has Newton in not taking Bazzle back. I'd give a slight edge to East in this game, a big edge if they play with emotion. Newton has none of that.

I do have to say being on the receiving end of a nwton conover thrashing/poor display of sportsmanship about 6 years ago in rec league; which happen to be the year west varsity went to Newton and beat them. This season was a long time in the making for this group of kids and made the win even better.

Newton did beat South Iredell that year, but it wasn't Coach Bazzle at the helm. He had left for Alexander Central. That was Bazzle's replacement, Brent Russel??? He pulled off a big one and went on to be coach of the year. Next year, after Bazzle's kids had graduated, the program fell apart and Russel was fired. So, I guess technically it was a "Bazzle victory" over SI, because Russel's coaching never amounted to anything positive after that season.

Not to mention our jv's got crushed my son's freshman year by NC and costed him a torn hamstring at QB and essentially ended sports his freshman year.

It was Bazzle, I was at the game sitting on newtons side . That was a big upset because they were in our conference, A long time newton suporter and i was talking about that game today at work i set with him at that game.I no south had a hard time trying to stop the option.

Sorry didn’t see this earlier.. yes confirmed. 3 calls from school today.

Yes kinda silly over rain but it our senior night and moms don’t want hair wet.. band wouldn’t show...IDK official reason but they made the call. Rain has already stopped..

Nope, it was absolutely not Nick Bazzle on the sideline of that giant upset over South Iredell on Oct. 23, 2012. Bazzle was hired at Alexander Central in the spring of 2012 and was long gone. It was his successor Russel who pulled off the stunner 31-21. It was the Red Devils' fifth win in a row on the way to a conference title. South had been unstoppable up to that game. In the 2012 2AA State Championship football game, South Iredell defeated the Carrboro Jaguars with a final score of 30-27.

That upset over South by NC in 2012 wrapped up the Coach of the Year title for Russell. Bazzle went 5-7 at Alexander Central that year.

48-0 at halftime. A game like that is not even fun. I actually felt bad for lkn. I mean our 8th quarter offence scored with two minutes left.

What’s buzziar is since I noticed a lot of athletes on the track for LNC I took a dare to myself at the very beginning of season before first game and guessed LNC would finish above West. Guess I figured they lost a lot of talent and had better athletes on the track than West did so I messed up. Think LNC was pretty good bout 4 or 5 years ago. Good class of boys came through.

Bandys/Lincolnton had 1 and 2 in 100/200. Can’t remember LNC sprinters. North did very well in track.. distance and field events.

Actually boys won state and girls 2nd today at XC state meet.... Could be a very big day for North Lincoln;)

Thank you guys. Good luck to North tonight. I was gonna come but the wife didn't want to go so I figured that leaving her home by herself with me going back to DC tomorrow wouldn't be wise on my part lol. I will be checking the score though.

I remember Bandys had the speed. Knew they’d be good on the football field with what they had on the track. Of course that don’t always translate lol. East Burke 94/95 not so good in football at all but we had a track team. Finished 2nd behind Watauga. Only finished above Watauga once in school history after 1990. Before then I dunno. Watauga was same way. Finished last in football but totally made up for it in track all the time.
