Here we are ALREADY in week 4, as if all this isn’t coming fast enough and before we know it it’s cold it’s playoffs and basketball kicks off. Some pretty good football yet to come so let’s hear it.

Lincolnton and EGaston- a much needed first win and will get it unless a bunch of Lincolnton players gets hurt in practice or gets in trouble. A major hats off to the wolves for a tough schedule and a close game to a soild team last week. Lincolnton pouring it on by as many as they want, I’ll say 35 to 7

Newton and East Burke- a classic non conf matchup going way back. Dispite the meltdown from Hickory last week I see Newton bouncing back and taking this one by at least 3 scores. EB may come out strong but won’t hold. Hate to see this program get to what’s it’s gotten but what can you do when there’s no athletes in Hildebran. Newton 28 EB 7

East Lincoln and NGaston- use the subs and keep fresh players and this should be easy. But still a clash of Titian’s with these 2. Keep throwing East, it’s working. EL 35 NG 21

North Lincoln and Alexander Central- North is playing strong and Cribb is getting it done on the ground. So is ACentral. May be one of the best games in area. 2 teams with 2 great coaches, expect a good one for at least a couple quarters...or one. ACentral is one of the only teams in area that would give Hibriten a fit or even a challenge, they dismantled Burns and is a conf favorite. Expect North to give them their best but it won’t be enough. ACentral 35 NL14

West Lincoln and Foard- I’d say a lot of Alum from both schools like to hang out at Waynos silver Bullet ha ha. A country boy battle that never gets old. West is bringing the heat so far this year even though they havnt really beat anyone major. I’ll give them the edge WL 28 Foard 21

Bandys and BHill- if your a fan and like to fish, by all means go fishing. Or see another game unless your sons playing.
Bandys 48 BH 0

Maiden and St Stephens- usually when these 2 get together it’s a Maiden blowout. Maiden takes care of business but Saint won’t be a pushover team. Maiden 35 STS 21

maiden with their cupcake non conference schedule

I know right, alittle too cupcake with East Burke at least. I think that game should not have gotten out of hand as much as it did. Looked like a total lack of defense and a mental breakdown on EBs part after getting behind. I wasn’t there but seen the highlights. Maybe they’ll play better against Newton. Can’t see them winning it but if they don’t score at all....idk man smh.

I’m not an EB fan but just to let everyone know, they were down to 3rd string qb to start game one of the Childers boys was injured the leading rusher from first game and 2 stating linemen! Freshman was q.v. and another freshman was leading rusher!!! May have been a better game if all this didn’t happen.

When will they be back on the field you think?

How was all the JV action last night? Saw NL lost but AC is good and will be for years to come. Middle schools are rolling too in Alexander county

Maybe the Wolves will get their first win, tonight. I have to say they looked better, last week, against North Gaston who fields a potent offense.Lincolnton had North Gaston down 7-0 with under five minutes in the last quarter, but the Wildcats were able to score and get the two points. After that,we looked pretty tired. NG had the ball deep in our territory and probably could have scored, again when they took a knee and ran out the clock.
Both the Warriors and us need all the help we can get so I hope there aren't any injuries.

Looking back at all I predicted I could say I called em right. Not exactly right on score spreads or closeness of games but wow.

WL and EL might be battling it out for first with Bandys and Maiden right there. It’s gonna get interesting. Could be wrong on West and them not really faced anybody yet but we’ll see how they pan out. They put a bigger one on Foard than I thought. Thought it’d be a lot closer for them and Foard. Guess Foard fell back down alittle.

Got what I expected from Bandys, got what I expected from Newton. North lost to what seems to be a 3A powerhouse around here and looks like they’ll (AC) only get better. I wouldn’t count the Knights out of it yet, could take 3rd at least.

Saint Stephens with a close loss on Maiden. Wonder what happened there? Saint is not a playoff feared opponent but seems to be able to hang with anybody around foothills area except AC and Hibriten.

Knew EL would win but thought it’d be closer. Might end up between them and Bandys for the crown. Wouldn’t be surprised.

Good football fellas, just hate its all going by so fast.

AC looked like a college team no doubt one opponent we shouldn’t have on our schedule but can’t help what Dave manass signed up for in his time. I think North will bounce back. To start conference play in the next few weeks!

AC is another one that there’s been times they’ve been not extremely weak but wouldn’t have much and not make playoffs. Butch Carter, a long time South Caldwell coach who turned their program around big time(if he had athletes), has carried over his success over to AC and it shows. Doesn’t hurt to have a soild class of boys and some to fill roles after every graduation. Don’t be surprised if they become a 3A powerhouse and start showing Hibriten up. Hibritens stocks will be down alittle next year and I’d expect ACs to rise up. These 2 will be playing each other next year if I heard correctly. Will make a very nice gate sale.

So back to North, is the Williams kid on JV getting groomed up? Didn’t see him on varsity roster but that’s smart on Bazzles part. Good to get experience, build, and have him saved up for playoffs and must wins to get into playoffs should it come to that.

AC is a well oiled team, running their triple option to perfection out of multiple formations. They even broke out the wishbone. North will be fine. AC is a good game to have. Remember, North played them to to toe the past three seasons, and there's only a difference in enrollment of around 200 kids. The next realignment will see North 3A, so AC is a great gauge for progress. Remember, 1A Bessemer City and Thomas Jefferson laid the wood on North, with Bessemer up next week. North needs patience. The triple option is a huge learning curve from Pack's spread.

Oh and team speed for AC is blistering. I haven't seen team speed like that in a long time. It's obvious AC is on a mission after that loss to Hickory last season.

Burke, Maiden's Defense played great, Maiden's offense played bad. The 'O' was sluggish and at best put one quarter of good football together. It seemed like the heat was taking a toll on them but I'm unsure if that excuse is viable considering how well the defense played.

Bottom line is this, we've played Foard and Saint half-cocked and that has amazingly not bitten us for a loss. But if we play ANYONE in the conference like this, we won't win a game. Our Defense is saving us right now.
