Those boosters landing was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
The first one they landed blew my mind. I couldn't believe they found a way to make that work and now they're doing two at once. This one looked like something from the old Thunderbirds show.
If Elon Musk says monkeys are going to climb out of his butt I'm probably going to believe him.

They are flying my youngest son out for an interview in 2 weeks. He's pumped about the company, just not sure about California and the cost of living. It's the solar division, not the car or rocket.

Agreed. It looked fake.....like out of a James Bond film. Technology is getting crazy.
Dude! thank you. As I was watching it I tried to think of a good analogy, but couldn’t. You’re right, it looked fake and the Bond film analogy is perfect.

Just got back this morning from Florida. We were at Kennedy Space Center for the launch and it was by far the most amazing thing I've seen in person. Even at 4ish miles away from the launch, it was so loud you couldn't talk to someone standing next to you. Just an amazing sight. And the landing of the two boosters was the coolest thing I've ever witnessed. I'm now a fanboy of SpaceX for life. Incredible.

This vid made the reddit front page. It's not some fancy, staged production or anything like that. It's just the landing filmed by some guy standing on a hill and it's still incredible to watch. Warning: Loud audio and will cause a raging nerd chubbie!

How effin cool is that!

I've seen several shuttle launches, and bunches of rocket launches. It NEVER gets old. The most amazing was an evening October shuttle launch at twilight. We were at Bethune Beach, just outside the Canaveral National Seashore entrance. Had to pick my jaw up out of the sand it was so spectacular.

There are no hills this high (in relief) in Florida. Especially on the coast.

There are a couple of communication towers at Lot 13 in the Canaveral National Seashore. If you'll notice, you can see the guy-wires in the background. I'm guessing someone either made the climb so far up the tower, or maybe used a drone.

It's probably been 10 years ago, but we were down there when some dude was flying a vintage plane from Punta Gorda to an air show in Jacksonville and decided it would be cool to give his buddy who was along for the ride an up close look at the space shuttle on the pad, but instead wound up in a forced landing in Daytona by some fighter jets that were scrambled out of Patrick AFB.
