who said this? “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life"

And this in regards to diversity on bench...“will have an effect on the development of the law and on judging.” I didn't know the law could/should be judged differently based on the gender or ethnicity of the judge.

That would be Justice Sotomeyer and I guess you think all Latinos think alike? On the issue she was discussing I agree with her. I guess all black defendants can now question their white judges?

You and I both know that all of us harbor certain biases, White,Black,Chinese,Irish,German.Italian,Democrat,Republican and on and on. Does that make all of us racists and bigots?

There is a difference between harboring a bias and letting that bias affect your decisions. It is possible that Trump might not get a fair judgement from this judge for whatever reason, but he presented no evidence of bias outside of the judge's lineage. That's the problem. I can dislike someone and still be able to judge a situation that person is in without allowing my personal feelings to get involved.

But that's what Sotomeyer is saying isn't it - that her gender and ethnicity will impact her rulings...not the law.

With your vehicle or house ownership in jeopardy, would you allow me to sit in judgement of you against a close and long time lady friend? I can understand your desire to reinforce your point of view, but are you going to bet a substantial portion of your wealth on that outcome? I would suggest to you that the answer is not no, but hell no.

When Benjamin was sitting in judgement of Blankenship, do you not think the proper course was to ask Benjamin to recuse himself?

The judge Trump called into question didn't have a relationship with the plaintiffs or Trump. The question was all about the fact that the judge's parents were immigrants from Mexico.

The Blankenship issue was also different. Blankenship donated significant cash to Benjamin's campaign.
