Coming off American Pharoah's *****-slapping of the industry's top 3-year-olds last weekend, I (finally) got to thinking about the greatest of them all, Secretariat, late this afternoon.
Decided to dial up his Belmont on You Tube today for a reminder of that memorable June 1973 day when he H-bombed a field of good horses (and essentially buried his top competitor, Sham, before they reached the mile pole). After watching the race.....and hearing the legendary CBS call by late Chic Anderson.....I came across another video about the Champ. I'd never seen it before.
Rather than describe it, I'll simply suggest you take a few moments to watch; if you've never seen this before.....perhaps some of you dialed this one up last weekend......I think you'll be as moved as I was.
