Saw it tonight.....No spoilers.

I thought it was good, not great.
Rank it ahead of Quantum of Solace, but behind Skyfall and Casino Royale.
Worth the watch though.

Planning on seeing it this weekend. Noticed on rotten tomatoes was getting good not great reviews, as you said. A little disappointed to hear that.

I figured it wouldn't be as good as Skyfall. I'll see it sometime in the next few days.

Damn... I figured Chris Waltz would have stolen the show. I mean, he's from Austria.. isn't that where like... 60% of Bond villains come from?

Not enough Waltz or Bellucci.

Lots of good action.

If you are a fan of the books and older Bond movies like I am, you will love the Easter Eggs / references. It's loaded with them.

I know the company line on Craig is that he still might come back and do another Bond, but after seeing this one, there's no way, IMO. This feels like a full-circle end to his 4-movie stint. It's certainly open for him to come back, but a few little things in the ending made it feel like Craig is riding off into the sunset. And since he co-produced this one, I'm pretty sure he had the control to do it his way.

Waltz not necessarily gone for good though. [winking]

Craig said he'd "rather slash his wrists" than play Bond again and if he did, it would only be for the money. I think he's done.

I read that but was surprised that they would overtly imply (IMO) in the film that he's done.

This one tied up (and also manufactured, and then tied up) a LOT of loose ends from the Craig era.
The next one will need to be a total reboot, a la Casino Royale.

He only played it 4 times though! This guy probably blew 10 Hollywood execs and Margaret Thatcher to be the next Bond.. And now he's above it? Ooook. He's had like 2 good roles since. They are already reporting that he just wants more money for the next film.

Sean Connery he isn't.

Dude was fantastic in Layer Cake, which is what got him the role in the first place. Playing that has also probably pigeon hold him too. Plus, these guys want something new and challenging and don't see things the ways fans do. For instance I could play Batman forever but Christian Bale didn't want to do it anymore either.

They're also jaded Hollywood asshats. Layer cake was good. GWTDT was great. But after that? Idk.

It's not like bond actors go on to great things aside from Connery. You wanted that role.. You got it. And he's great at it.

He said the role hasn't pigeonholed him at all and has led to much more opportunities. The main drawback is the globe-trotting authenticity of Bond films eat up too much of his time.

Craig looked noticeably old, tired and less enthused this time. And I'm a Craig guy, I think he has been phenomenal, just what the series needed at the right time.

But he is 47 or 48 now, which puts him at 50-52 if he were to do another one. It just feels like it's time to move on.

I'm very interested in hearing if anyone having seen Spectre has the same impression I have about this.

Saw it last night. Agree that it wasn't Skyfall, but still a solid Bond film. If Craig is done (and I think he is), the next Bond should be a 20-something (early 30's at the most). I give it a strong B. Well worth the time and I agree with the post about not enough Chris Waltz. For the first time in YEARS, I wanted a Bond villain to get what was coming to him...and the final twist was worth the price of admission in and of itself.

Saw Spectre last night. Agree an overall solid Bond, but not quite Casino Royale or Skyfall good.

I think Craig is done as well. Ideas on who would replace him?

I'm pretty sure Craig doesn't want to do it any more because the role beats the hell out of him physically.

Is it too much to ask that they PLAY THE BOND MUSIC WHEN THE ACTION IS ABOUT TO START!

Jeebus goodness sakes do they have to screw every single tradition up? Zero Bond music except a little blurb at the beginning then a little at the end. Otherwise LAME elevator music for all the action sequences.

Really lame escape sequences towards the end and other than one early in the movie they are sub-standard.

Please, put the next Bond movie in the hands of Tarantino as he is dying to make one. Get somebody, anybody, that understands what Bond is all about instead of this continued slide into a dull gelatinous vanilla bland Bond as before long he'll be Bruce Willis in Die Hard. Please.

I finally got around to seeing it and I really liked it. Maybe I lowered my expectations enough that I surprised myself.

Tarantino has no class and will never direct a Bond film.

He doesn't. Unless you want "mother toucher" and the "N word" said a 100 times combined with gratuitous violence.

He's a douche.

Anyways, I never saw Skyfall. Is that the best Bond movie you'd say in the past 20 years?

Virtually any of the 4 most recent are better than any Bond movie since, probably, the 60s. JMO. Nothing against Brosnan or any of them, but it had gotten pretty campy. Good or just mediocre, at least the ones with Craig were serious efforts....

Casino Royale is arguably better because of what it meant to reset everything.

But, I think Skyfall is a little better once you take it as read that everything has reset.

Casino Royale is my favorite Craig Bond, and arguably one of the all time best, IMO.

Goldeneye was good, one of Brosnan's better efforts.

Timothy Dalton was the Billy Gillespie of Bond.

Like Tarantino's work, but not for Bond.

Actually think Dalton was a pretty good Bond but the series was badly trashed by Moore's last couple of movies and needed to be rebooted entirely, not just recast. They tried a little bit with License to Kill (second only to Casino Royale as the darkest Bond movie)

QT would make an incredible Bond movie. He wanted to do Casino Royal so bad he couldn't stand it but they wouldn't let him. It says a lot because QT has a lot of influence yet can't get the gig.

Since he opened his mouth with his latest idiotic statements on cops he will never sniff a Bond movie. A shame somebody so talented also has to be so stupid.

EON would never hire a louse like Tarantino, his most recent flub is just another example of why - not the nail in the coffin.

Yes. I do recommend watching Casino Royale first to see where Craig's Bond came from. Tim Dalton's Bond was good, but as posted earlier, his Bond came after the campiness of Moore's Bond. The public wasn't ready for him, but WAS ready for Craig's Bond.

I saw Casino Royale when it came out but never saw the others afterward. Started to watch Quantom on television about a year ago but never went through with it.

Vol, did you see this one yet? Been reading some bad reviews but I don't usually put stock into those things.

I saw it Saturday. Not as good as Skyfall, but it ties in with Connery's Bond (you'd like the new Blofeld, but it took the movie a long time to get to him). As far as critics reviews go, those guys write reviews for other critics rather than John Q Public. It's a Bond movie. I want to be entertained, and Spectre entertained me. That's pretty much all I expect from a movie.
