The player development has also been atrocious. Miller Kopp has gotten worse. Nance just has never figured things out. These guys have been playing for 3 full seasons now.

Atrocious shooting. What is it about this team that causes them to open games by going down by 10+?

Just when things were starting to look up, NU comes up with its worst game of the season. Mercifully the season comes to an end.

I don't know it was their worst of the season, but that's only because there was at least game that I refuse to ever remember again. I'd rather watch NU-Illinois State in football than watch that second half again.

This game was actually historically atrocious. According to STATS:

"Tonight's Minnesota-Northwestern game in the Big Ten Tournament was the first Division I game in 8 years in which both teams shot:

Under 40% on field goals
Under 30% on three-pointers
Under 45% on free throws

The last such game was Maryland-Miami on 1/13/2013."

Similar mistakes, late meltdowns, bad fundamentals. Long scoring droughts, and a 13-game losing streak. Painful. Frustrating.
The opening and closing droughts were a combined 11 minutes. In the middle 29, NU played at a whopping 63-point pace.

Wow. Pathetic.

I thought those four-ish minutes in the first half where they ran Berry, Gaines and Young with Buie and Kopp, then took out Boo and Kopp for Greer and Audige were some of his worst decisions. That's not a group that helps you change a five-point deficit. The Cats went from 5-0 to 11-2.

Nance missed a couple shots, but wasn't playing poorly at all.

And frankly, I have no use for Berry at this point. He brings some energy, but he doesn't have much of a shot and he's not a great ball handler at all. He's a freshman.

Starts with coaching, team preparation and point guard leadership.

I think people overlook the third one and just want to blame Collins (or all the players collectively). Replace Boo with Juice Thompson, and I think we a whole different team that wins a lot more games.
