May not be the best athlete but what event did you attend where someone just put on an amazing display in their sport.

Kentucky Derby. Most fun I've had at a sporting event, all day long - and the Derby race itself was unforgettable.

Got to watch it on the rail near the paddock - I can still feel the ground shake.

Robert Horry in the 4th quarter and overtime of game 5 of the NBA finals in 2005 for San Antonio against Detroit. He took over and got them to OT on his own and won it in OT pretty much by himself.

3. Dwight "Blur" Anderson vs Notre Dame in Dec 1978 (Not an "All time" performance but he about single-handedly brought us back against a very good team.)

2. Larry Mize - Chipping in to win the Masters in 1987

1. Jeff Fryer (Loyola Marymount) - vs defending champ Michigan NCAA second round 1990. Dude hit 11 3's, which is still a record, and scored 41 as LMU beat Michigan 149-115

Jeff Gordon driving around that racetrack in Daytona. Boy he had the pedal to the metal that day. What an athletic performance.

I went to a UK gymnastics meet once and a girl from Arizona got a perfect 10 on the balance beam.

UK still won the meet.

I was at Valhalla on Sunday in 2000, so I guess that. I also went to the SEC Tourney in Rupp during the Blizzard of 93 and saw the Cats blow every single team they played out of the water. After getting screwed in Knoxville the prior week by bad officiating the 31-0 run to start the game en route to a 61 point victory over UT was probably the most impressive game.

I have a unique one that kinda fits in here.

Some of you probably remember Tick Rogers that played for U of L in the 90's. I went to one of his home games in 1992, which was his and my senior year, and he broke the school's all-time career scoring AND rebounding record in that game. It was crazy because they stopped the game twice to celebrate. He got two different game balls and went into the stands to take pictures ( with his parents I think) before the game resumed. I don't recall his individual stats for that game. He averaged around 33 points and 14 rebounds per game that year. I believe that led the state in both categories and he won Mr. Basketball. He was a pretty good player at UL. If I recall correctly he led the nation in steals one year or came very close. He had very awkward form on his jump shot.

Amazingly enough, I attended one and ran in the other! Nenow was like a racehorse, probably 500 yards in front of his nearest pursuer and that was at the 4 mile mark. [roll]

I have ran in the BG 10,000 many times, and don't think anyone else has ever broke 30 minutes.

Struck out 17 people in a 7 inning baseball game against Barbourville in high school my senior year...they sucked, but I still did it.
