I've been wanting to buy those lava Agassi's for a while now once Nike started making them again.

Not sure where or how I'd rock them as high top tennis shoes are a little out of my wheelhouse, but my parents would never pull the trigger on those or the black suede Barkleys I wanted so bad. And I'm a grownup now, damnit.

I had those Nike air max 90 and black reebok pumps Dee brown's, and all the girls wanted to hold my hand and slow dance to "The end of the Road"

Loved Jordan's but parents wouldn't spring for them early on. Ended up getting a couple of the later colorways down the road. Had a couple of pairs of Bo Jackson cross trainers, some air maxes, air huaraches along the way. Still have a lot of nostalgia for them all and currently have some all grey air max 95's. Liked those early Agassis also but never had them.

In 6th grade it was a must to get the Bo Jackson's that had the orange on it.

One of the best basketball shoes ever made were the low or mid-cut Charles Barkleys. Black w/ the air pocket all the way around the back.

8th grade Air Maestro were nice shoes. Also had the Air Hitachi(?). Think they were $125 and rocked them in my jeans. 1st of a kind shoe if I remember correctly.

I had a pretty good run to end elementary school with :
'91 Bo Jackson Air Max ("Bo Knows")
'92 Air Jordan VII (Bugs Bunny's)
'93 Reebok Pump Preseasons (Barry Sanders ((awful colorway)))

At one point I had Nikes that had a hunter green suede upper, black mid-foot strap, purple accents, ,gray & black zebra pattern on the foam parts, and a somewhat loose silver ankle strap made of spandex. Thanks, putting that out there for kids to pick out, NIKE!

Edit: Found 'Em!

Type amen if you remember these bad *** shoes. With the pump, you could rebound like Shaq, hit jumpers like Kobe, and crush your opponent like Jordan. Rocking a starter jacket with the hurricanes logo on it and you have one complete badass

I was a kid of the 60's/70's. Chuck Taylors were the kicks of choice back then, but Pro Keds were acceptable as well. Anything else meant you got laughed at, until Nike/Reebok/Adidas and the other name brands came out.

So what did you call the off-brand kicks? Here's a partial list (from memory) of what we Middle Tennessee kids called them:

Bobos, Paddleboats, skates, 299's/399's (yes, you could buy the off brands for $2.99/$3.99 back in the day), cheeps, no-names, YCAC's (You Can't Afford Converse), brogains, and I'm sure there's some I've forgotten. Yeah, once you got to junior high/high school...your classmates could be BRUTAL.

Haha! I remember a buddy of mine in junior high calling people's Trax shoes from K-Mart "bobos". One classmate had the misfortune of coming to school one day with Trax on one foot and Adidas on the other. Trax had one more stripe than Adidas.

Outside of the newest basketball shoe, having a pair of Kangaroos with the little zipper pouch on the side was cool. Also even older, the Tony Dorsett Pony turf shoes was "in" as well. The Nike Cortez shoes pictured a couple post above was the **** for a while.

Dicks, Slick Slocks, bobos where all names of generic shoes back in the day.

I'm sure it was fun on the playground running with your good buddies Slippery Steve, Johnny Biscuits, Stinky Pete, and the rest of that silly gang

my favorite basketball shoe of all time. one of the sexiest shoes made.

The greatest shoe of all time.

Very trendy. The big AIR and full length air sole were a big deal at the time. Not classic, but dope.

I don't think baseball shoes exist outside of the Ken Griffey world. Everybody had these, and you best not even step on the diamond if you weren't rocking...

Standard issue for any real player.

:fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire: - I only saw these in person once.

The fact that AI was able to make one good pair of sneakers with Reebok and sell that trash for decades is amazing. These were clean and cool. AI sneakers quickly started to incorporate zippers and tattoos on their shoes after these...

Was around the time when these bad boys hit the hallways...

LOL! And mf'ers bought em! And spun em! Man.

You haven't lived until you strutted into 3rd grade in a pair of these ...

These were very dope and a big deal at the time. I loved the shoes with straps because they were perfect support for a rambunctious rascal on the playground.

Only real bad boys wore these. I tried to get to the ooze with a pocket knife and they were never quite the same. Couldn't even get the ooze out. Protected by tough plastic.

First pair of Jordan's were the red and black VII's during 4th grade, went on to have....

Converse - Larry Johnsons
Nike - Barkley's
Nike - Griffey Jr's, the first pair
Nike - Penny Hardaways, see above, but in black
Nike - The ones with the huge AIR on the side, I had the white, Pippen Olympic ones.
Nike - Patent Leather Jordan's XI, black and white, later had the Space Jam ones
Nike - Jordan XII, had the black and white ones, these ended up having a dozen different colors.

After that I was 16 and driving and got a job at FootLocker in Jefferson Mall and it was over, they gave you your first pair for free, anything you wanted, except for Jordan's, so I went went some sweet Air Max's. They had a deal that if you wanted to buy shoes as an employee you could basically layaway them and they would take it out of your check, but salesmen were paid on commission, things like accessories and cleaner, socks and gear, so your commission could cover the shoes without really ever spending a dime on them.

So then I moved down to Finish Line and my manager would give you full credit for any old shoes you had and we kept a running tab, I brought in all my old shoes one day on my off day and had like $800+ in store credit and I stopped paying for shoes up until I went to college at UK, and you better believe that my freshman year at UK, my shoe game was on fire!

Nah, never knew a Slippery Steve, Johnny Biscuits, nor Stinky Pete. But if I did, with nicknames like that, they would get ran from the big boy courts quicker than coming out with a pair of dicks on. I just simply stated what other where saying people called knock off shoes during their day. Don't know why you picked me out of all the post to call out. Probably because you rocked Reebok growing up and WAS that guy. Sorry my man, I didn't say I made fun, just simply stated what OTHER people called them. Sorry if you felt it was directed toward you, not my intention. Just tryna make it through a slow work day posting on a message board for fun and to kill time.

I had quite a few on that list...mainly the Jordans but like a poster above said the Air Max 95 is my favorite shoe of all time.

On a side note, I loved most of the shoes on the list as a kid (even the ones I didn't own) but some of those shoes looking at them now are just God awful.
