Spinoff: Does T-Mobile still suck?

I keep seeing the rates on T-Mobile and wondering if I should jump from AT&T. I have 4 smartphones so AT&T is expensive as hell. I live in Lexington and I don't travel much. Is the coverage on T-Mobile OK around here? Is it really bad in rural areas?

It is much better in rural areas than it used to be, have been a T Mobile customer for many years on a family plan, with almost no problems. Daughters have used it overseas several times as well.

Have had T-Mobile for many years. Service around Lexington is great and service outside cities has improved a lot. I've been with every carrier at some point in time and I think T-Mobile's service is just as good as anyone's.
$50/month unlimited is very reasonable but you do have to buy your phone at full price.

if you have a new phone. When I had an iPhone 5 I couldn't get a signal in a lot of rural areas. I have a 6S now and it is great everywhere.

Thanks, I may take a shot once all of our phones are paid off in Oct. I assume there is some way to unlock the phones we have for a new network? Samsung and Apple mix...all purchased through AT&T Next plan

Went from att to T-Mobile a few months ago and switched back to att, T-Mobile is good if you're in Lexington or other surrounding city limits but it sucks badly in rural areas. Many times there are huge dead areas with zero reception, their coverage map is a load of ****.
I have a Verizon work phone as well as a att personal phone and T-Mobile is far behind them in rural performance . I travel Lexington and the surrounding counties regularly for perspective. If you're staying in Lexington mostly then save money with T-Mobile

I saved $134 switching to TMobile. I have not had issues with coverage. Well between BG and Hoptown in the Todd Co area, but AT&T had no service there so it is not a TMobile problem.
