Sega was definitely cooler, also had things like uncensored Mortal Kombat the snes didn't.

This thread makes we wish I still had those systems and games for nostalgia purposes. Guy raising his son on the evolution of gaming is pretty hilarious.

I come in peace, lol. Check out the Retron 3 on Amazon, it is somewhere between $50-$75 and it plays NES, SNES and Sega games. It comes with 2 wireless controllers and has an HDMI port so the games will look better then ever on a HDTV.

Has to be one of the best purchases that I have ever made. Then go to eBay and find the people that sell old games by the LOT. You can get a 70-100 game LOT on eBay for usually no more then a dollar a game. I think in total I spent around $200, which is basically what one of those systems would have costs back in the day and I have at least 100 games for each system. I highly recommend.

I've built a pretty nice collection of emulators and roms over the years. Extremely easy to setup and utilize if you have the time to investigate. My collection started in college so I was able to devote a good amount of time to building it back then.

Something like this....

....will fit your needs for every console's emulator. You map the buttons to fit any configuration you want.

I have the following consoles playable on my PC right now....

Atari 2600 / 5200
NES
SNES
N64
Gamecube
Gameboy
Playstation
Playstation 2
Sega Genesis
Sega CD
Dreamcast
DOSBox (for old PC games)

...with virtually every game you can imagine for every console.

Some great resources to start with...

Hey man, I would love to put all those on my pc, but I have a Mac.

Do you know how to use r4 cards to play old Nes, SNES and Gameboy games on my 3ds XL? I bought one that had like 800 games on it from a dude on Craigslist, but didn't know to not download software update then. Now I still have the r4 card, I just don't know how to put the games on it.

My kids used to go to Crestwood Elementary in Oldham County and their after school care had picked up a Nintendo 64 with 30 games for $50 at a yard sale. They had all the classic games. The only one that I liked that they didn't have was Mario Golf. Looking at Amazon they made a $1000-$1500 buy.

Most of the consoles have OSX compatible builds on EmuParadise, I also have Macs and have those versions as well.

Never messed with the 3DS but after a few minutes of Youtube it looks relatively easy. Need to add the emulators and roms to the card and it looks to be plug and play.

And yes, the first thing they say is don't update. So, don't update.

Don't understand the idea that Sega had a lack of titles. Genesis sports games were way better than Super Nintendo's

This might be an age thing. When I played Sega and SNES, my age group didn't really care about Mario crap. Really the only thing SNES had over Sega was Street Fighter. That was it.

iirc, the Sega rental section was always larger too.
Absolutely. Actually, we pitched in for a SNES strictly for Street Fighter II tourneys. Sega was overall much better, not to mention the Sega version of Mortal Kombat had the fatalities and SNES didn't. The early Maddens were great as well.

There are emulators for just about every system. Just Google "Sega emulator", "SNES emulator"...

There was also a glitch in the game where you could score from half court every time. I found it to only work if you were shooting at the basket on the left. Line up at the bottom of the half court circle under the scoreboard and profit. FIFA International Soccer also had a similar glitch on the SNES.

Also Super Nintendo had Bulls vs Blazers, which was one of the few video games in the 90s that included Michael Jordan.

i know this, man. I meant for the retro thrill of still having all my old school systems, controllers and games, but alas they've been long since donated away and probably sitting on amazon for obscene prices.

Oh, yeah I know what you mean. I wish I had kept all of mine.
