If that's the reason it sucks. People said the same thing about Donnelly when he left, but then Splitt turned teams that were 2-7 as sophs into conference champs their senior year.
I know lower levels had down years, but the program has been really good at growing player's skillsets and playing smart, tough nosed football. Next year's seniors are really good too..so I'm kinda surprised by the timing.
Not according to Kpiason and the rest of the Palatine posters? They were saying they won't be quite as good as past few years with their awesome QB gone, but they seemed to indicate the cupboard was not totally bare.
Where are the Palatine guys? Only 24 hours of mourning is allowed!!
Would love your takes on this development.Not at all. Completely family related. Wants to see his kids play in high school is what I'm hearing.
Lake Zurich is the next high school northwest of Palatine, and they're currently sans coaching staff.
So the question becomes, who now? Not sure any of the current assistants have the prior experience Splitt had. Stortz just came back to Conant. I know Pearlman hasn't had the success at Wheeling that he had at Prospect, but I think the structure and socio-economic factors at Palatine much more match Prospect than Wheeling does. Wonder if he'd jump from MSL East -> West? The program is at an apex right now and needs a good coach to keep it rolling.

Rick's triplets will attend C-G this fall. As stated correctly this is for family reasons as he doesn't want to miss his kids sports and other HS related activities.

I've worked numerous Palatine games during his tenure. One play in particular bothered me for a week, so I emailed Coach Splitt about it. He sent me a clip of the play and it turns out I was wrong. I told him as much, and he couldn't have been nicer to me about it.
He is a class guy. I will miss seeing him on the sidelines.
