First bar I ever went to in Lincoln! The one bar I wish was reincarnated would be P.O. Pears. Lots of space, good food, sand vball, multiple bars... good times.
...and Burger Madness every Sunday.First bar I ever went to in Lincoln!
I thought that was Tuesday!...and Burger Madness every Sunday.
That kind of stuff is awesome. We used to (younger years) rent a 47-passenger bus, charge everybody $40 or $50, head for Lincoln (from Norfolk). Tickets, bus, driver, everything but your booze paid for. I and a friend were responsible for getting the tickets (kind of a hassle). 40 or so people and 40 or 50 coolers - a little crowded. The last time was the year it got rained or flooded out. Still spent a long day in Lincoln and many points between there and home.
Reading comprehension Beav. Never said I was a "conscientious objector." Just pointed out a misstatement. F off.Just a reminder, you need to keep this logic everywhere in your life and throw out all advances that came through ill-gotten means such as things tracing their heritage to Nazi scientists. Boy are the words "Operation Paperclip" going to make your life difficult if you go pulling at that thread.
And before you go saying "that's different" bear in mind that Nazis killed tons of babies that were both in and out of wombs.
Satellites? Can't use em, So no TV and no phones for you. In many cases no internet. Nazi rocket tech gets them up there.
You DEFINITELY need to hate the moon landing.
Any swept-wing aircraft? You can't ride in it. Nazi scientist idea. Pretty much any modern aircraft is going to be out of bounds for you for a variety of reasons from engines to wings.
Modern radar? You better not. Nazi contributions. So you need to morally object to really knowing much about the weather and again you REALLY can't fly because they use so much radar to keep you from slamming into other planes up there.
And that's not even touching the products you can't use because of Nazi scientist advances in chemical engineering.
What about if you catch COVID and you give it to a pregnant mother and she could die or the baby could die due to complications, where's your moral obligation lie there?
But please, keep telling us more about what a conscientious objector you are by being a vector for a deadly disease because 5 decades ago somebody made a choice most of us wouldn't have made.
I thought that was Tuesday!
I think it was both Tues/Sun, but we usually went Sundays since there were no campus housing meals those nights. Poor college kid's best friend.
The one bar I wish was reincarnated would be P.O. Pears. Lots of space, good food, sand vball, multiple bars... good times.
Yes, 50% it is with seating in every other row and masks required. Max of 4 tickets per order.Didn't I see elsewhere that Spring Game attendance will be limited to 50% of stadium capacity?
Probably my favorite bar while I was at UNL in the mid-late 80's. If I recall the prices correctly, they had $1 pitchers and $.10 tacos on Friday nights. Nothing like getting hammered, playing drunk volleyball and nearly shitting yourself for a few bucks! We used to (younger years) rent a 47-passenger bus, charge everybody $40 or $50, head for Lincoln (from Norfolk). Went past the former Pears location two weeks ago -- it has been completely bullbozed and is now a vacant lot. What a hoot that place was. I once saw a jalapeno eating contest there. Two big burly guys ate about 6-8, then a petite Hispanic gal stepped up and downed about 15 to win going away. Crowd went nuts. Just toss your empty cans on the floor; if a worker asked, "Hey, do you do that at home?" The answer was always yes, and he'd be fine with it. Great beer specials and lots of girls. Rivaling that was the original Oscars under the viaduct with it's 32 oz. $1 beers, then stumble up to the Waterhole (later a clothing store), Rail and Derloafenstein. My mother once saw my checkbook with line after line of $15 checks made out to Brass Rail. I told her that's where I go to cash checks, and she asked why I never went to Safeway. Into the early 80's there was also a fun place at the corner of 25th and O. All the lost brain cells prevent me from recalling the name.First bar I ever went to in Lincoln!
lol, that's why I said everyone has to do their own research... you can then choose what you want to believe. I reviewed some of the data on Vaers, and for me, it's a no brainer to choose the J&J over the mRNA. At least that is what the data tells me at this point in time. Unless you were being facetious, then I would agree with you. That is BS. Your bias or Qness is showing. The CDC clearly states that the vaccines have not killed 0.0018% of those vaccinated.
CDC...
"126 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the United States from December 14, 2020, through March 22, 2021. During this time, VAERS received 2,216 reports of death (0.0018%) among people who received a COVID-19 vaccine. CDC and FDA physicians review each case report of death as soon as notified and CDC requests medical records to further assess reports. A review of available clinical information including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records revealed no evidence that vaccination contributed to patient deaths. CDC and FDA will continue to investigate reports of adverse events, including deaths, reported to VAERS."
To much drinking at home to wear a maskI read that even if you watch it at home you will have to be wearing a mask.
Honestly I don't know why the B1G would even put any kind of restriction on a Spring game. It involves no competition with another B1G team so there's no "level playing field" to be worried about. Let schools follow whatever their local guidelines permit. Spring games are different situations than teams competing for championships in the fall.As of now the Big 10 is limiting attendance to 50% for all athletic events, but Moos stated it may be up to 75% by the time the game is played. Don't know if that's just his personal opinion.

Got my second shot. Pfizer. Kicked myFetal cells from the 70s and 80s that have been synthetically replicated in laboratories for 40-50 years. Should they destroy all of that lab grown tissue now? If you're that morally pure that you're willing to destroy lab grown tissue because of what somebody did 50 years ago I guess you're morally superior to me. It is extremely deceptive to say that the vaccine is using tissue from aborted babies. People aren't going around to Planned Parenthood picking up aborted fetuses to make vaccine.
I don't live in Lincoln anymore, but I think The Zoo is still around. Place was a fixture on the blues circuit for decades. Saw many fantastic performers there, including Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Dave Alvin. Had to be willing to go midweek, because that's when they pulled in bigger acts who played Kansas City, Chicago, etc., on weekends.I remember the Waterhole and "The Rail", anybody remember the funky joint with live music, the Zoo, we're talking late 70s.
Barry's has been closed for over a year my guy....RIPIt will be lame AF if Barry's is only letting in like, 1/6th capacity.
So even before Covid? How can that place not make it?!?!?Barry's has been closed for over a year my guy....RIP
Is it the big10 limiting? I thought it was being left to the local health directives. I only saw the 4 seat restriction listed for the non donor/season ticket holders. Hope it isn’t like a few years ago when those groups are up large groups of tickets taking away from the average fan.Yes, 50% it is with seating in every other row and masks required. Max of 4 tickets per order.
I won't but thanks for the opportunity. You're the one who brought it up, sorry you feel bad because you got stuffed in the trash with your garbage logic by multiple posters.Reading comprehension Beav. Never said I was a "conscientious objector." Just pointed out a misstatement. F off.

Imagine the nonsense of thinking you're "pro-life" by spouting watered down anti-vaxxer BS. Nothing says "I care about the sanctity of EVERY human life" like groping for excuses to be scared of a shot that is going to save millions of lives. Did you see where the baby was born with anitbodies because mom got the vaccine while pregnant? Sure sounds useful in keeping more babies alive.
If you're that scared of needles just say "I'm scared of needles" and see if they'll give you a Sponge Bob band-aid and a sucker after you're done for being a brave boy. Don't try to be a philosopher about it.
If you TRULY want to prevent abortions, put your effort into being in favor of access to birth control. Here's some reading for you to comprehend: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4000282/
Abortion? I mean, they die. What is the risk of covid to children.
I went there 3 days a week in 2018, 2019, and part of 2020. All my friends were bartenders and if you remotely knew them they gave you free drinks all weekend. Place was a riot. They made all their money from non-college kids on game days. No gameday...No Barry'sSo even before Covid? How can that place not make it?!?!?

Yeah, that makes sense. Their gameday crowd was insane and they must have made a fortune.
But I could see where the rest of the days would be the issue. Maybe too big for its own good?
Ha! No kidding1I think it's hard to survive on 7 BIG days (home games) a year. I bet they were limping along and just saw the writing on the wall when Covid hit.
(you can tell i'm bored on a friday.....sitting here theorizing on Barry's business model)
man when you think about it Nebraska should probably be the best team in the West every year based on their recruiting success. NEB probably has more higher star recruits than any team in the division.
on offense there is at least a 4 star recruit at almost every position. That is far and away the most of any team in the division and probably puts the offense top 10 in the country based on star ratings.
the D has fewer 4 stars but are sprinkled thru the roster.
while the offense is young and more talented based on stars than any program in the division the defense is the most experienced in the country.
there really is no excuse for NEB not to AT LEAST finish 2nd and probably should win the division with their edge in talent AND experience over everyone in the division.
I saw Muddy Waters and BB King in Lincoln and I believe it was at the Zoo Bar. Between the Zoo and another bar in the same area, can't remember the name, but was a long, narrow "shotgun" bar saw a lot of great musicians, Leo Kotkie, Jerry Jeff Walker, etc.I don't live in Lincoln anymore, but I think The Zoo is still around. Back in the late 70s when PO Pears opened it quickly became known as a "preppy hangout". That place tended to attract the aspiring "beautiful people" and was frequented by the fraternity and sorority crowd. People dressed up to go there. Their drink prices were high and I think there may have even been a cover charge on Friday and Saturday nights. The Bohemian/pothead crowd tended to go to the small bars with entertainment like the Zoo. The jocks went to places like Sweep Left and Barry's. People looking for a hardcore meat market scene went to Stooges (later Starship Enterprise) and Uncle Sam's. The perverts went to a couple stripper bars outside the city limits past the airport and out west. The hardcore alcoholics went to bars with ultra cheap drinks like Marie's Oasis by the bus station that served tall glasses of MD 20/20 for a dollar. I was a meat market guy and will say out of the whole list above, PO Pears was my last choice. As a poor kid from South Omaha, the women there didn't have much use for me.Went past the former Pears location two weeks ago -- it has been completely bullbozed and is now a vacant lot. It's interesting to me how pro-choice peeps try to define what it means to be pro-life. I get it works both ways, but you always hear "if you were truly pro-life..." from the pro-choice side then they bring up scenarios/issues that have nothing to do with the pro-life movement.I won't but thanks for the opportunity. You're the one who brought it up, sorry you feel bad because you got stuffed in the trash with your garbage logic by multiple posters.

I went to UNL in the 90s -
I never went to Pears that much -but I feel like they had Penny Pitchers of beer on certain nights. Maybe thursdays.
All this talk of wings and beer isn't helping....
Yeah I was at UNL from 02-06. I went to PO Pears a few times when I had a Jazz class because they had Jazz on Thursday night there and you had to go attend to get points. Decent place, but other than that never went there.
The bar scene in general in Lincoln has changed. We didn't have the Haymarket when I was in school and O street was the place to be. I feel like there are too many options and it is spread out now and not near as fun as it once was. I still enjoy game days at the bars, but it was dead the last time I went to the bars on a non-game day.
yes. 1pm. I thought I saw something stupid on the tailgaiting like 10 or something. thats only 2.5 hours. Is the game time 1pm?
And, anyone know what time most of the bars will be opening or the tailgating situation?
