It's been announced that the spring game may not happen due to construction at Williams Brice. Is there another venue in Columbia that could accommodate? I don't think the stadium is usually full for this game.

Might as well kill it off. Media has convinced most of the sheep that spring games are a waste of time.

A lot of the problem that some programs had with it was the portal window allowing guys to shine in that game, then transfer.

With the portal windows now shifted, I wonder if teams will go back to it. Lots of fans enjoyed them.

Yes, you're right. That's exactly the point: fun for the fans. It's only the fans who insist on looking at the spring game through the lens of a real game who feel the spring game is a waste of time. News flash: it's not a real game. It's not intended to be a real game. It's supposed to just be a fun experience. Let the fans see the team one last time before the dark period of summer when there is no football news. Maybe meet some players. Get autographs. Great for families and kids. Sure, you might come away with some basic evaluations of certain players, but the format is so modified that serious evaluation isn't really possible.

Cancel - or if it's legal have a NIL spring practice with SC State. I haven't been to Orangeburg since they stopped playing Furman.

Of course, the spring game evolved over time. They did used to be a bit more robust, competitive events but that changed.

I think it would be interesting to scrimmage another team. The idea has been floated but met with resistance.

I like the idea of a controlled scrimmage against another opponent. SC State (we can see if the new O-linemen are an improvement), Furman, Citadel, any of them. Heck, even call up Wake, Duke, NC State, etc and see if they would want to host one.

We could go up to dung Valley. Let all the CU fans boo us. It would give our team experience playing in hostile environments

Jamboree with local teams like HS and below. I've come to realize that everything that happened in my life time that made all of this successful is going to go away. Spring Game, meet the players at the Roost, student athletes, affordable entertainment. All of that was successful in the past and made it the way it is now. It's only natural that the powers that be decide that isn't good enough anymore.

I've heard a proposal to play bowl games in the spring. That would be more interesting in most cases than doing bowls the way they do them now.

Playbfurman and sc state. Those games should be exhibition anyway, and it would make for a good spring game.
