Why does it seem no one cares about it.

My excitement for the football team just isn't there. It's a crappie feeling.

It's just you. I'm excited. The 55,000 people who have already purchased spring game tickets are apparently excited enough to do that.

The coverage is lacking. Probably because the practices are closed. That affects the amount of discussion, I suppose. .

I'm hoping the Spring game gets me going. I'm usually hyped about Nebraska football year round.

I was more excited after our 6-7 season.
You will be; its your nature to get things going, so we can all look forward to some great conversations. I think Tuco is on to something about the lack of coverage effect.

Who says no one cares about it? There just really hasn't been a whole lot of news. For that matter, I really can't remember much big news ever coming out of spring practice. Usually if big news happens, it's because of an injury, so maybe it's a good thing that there hasn't been much news. For the two big stories of this year-the QB battle and the switch to the 3-4 defense, there isn't much in spring practice that's going to settle either one. The QB battle will extend into the fall, and it's going to take more than the spring to get the new defense installed and personnel decided.

I haven't been this excited for a season since 2010. And now that All the Bo loving players and the smell of Bo farts are gone, I'm going to memorial stadium since the KU game in 2010. How can you not be excited for this year? It's finally Riley's team.

I'm excited, just like every year and am reading every post and every article out there. I have noticed less chatter on the several message boards I read the last few years, but I chalk that up to the novelty of Internet message boards wearing off and people chatting on other social media. My wife's craft making boards have been down the last few years as well.

It make sense to to keep practices closed right now, none of the other Big 10 teams get a feel for Lee or OBrein this way. With Armstrong every team knew what we had and what to expect. This year is the first in awhile the Husker team on offense and defense will be all new to each Big 10 team we play this year. Hard to prepare for a team when you have no clue what type of weapons there bring to the fight....just saying ;)

i think the opponent's will see what they want to see when the spring game is on BTN2Go.

Not many teams are prepping for specific opponents in the spring anyway. But if a person wanted to, looking at Oregon St offense 2006-2009 and Notre Dame defense 2010-2013 will show you what this team will look like from a base scheme standpoint.

1. The light bulb may have finally gone on for Wilbon, but the top spot appears to belong to Tre.
2. Decker is in front of Raridon and the other top Oline spots seem to belong to returning starters.
3. Two QBs are competing for the top spot.
4. Outside of Stan and DPE, snaps are at the taking at WR.
5. Carlos, Mick and Freedom on the line.
6. Newby, Weber and likely Young at 3 of the 4 LB spots.
7. They are kicking the tires a bit on the back four, but Jones, Jackson, Aaron Williams and Kalu seem to be the top guys.

We traded up big time with the changes to the defensive coaching staff. The kids seem enthusiastic about the switch to the 3-4. We have a little more than five months before that defense has to really show on the field in Eugene.

I cant wait for this season. I havent been this excited in awhile for football to start. The energy Diaco brings to the staff will show big time. I think we have a high scoring offense this year.

It could be this new shift I'm working now. Thurs thru Sunday.

My weekend time to surf the boards has been limited.

Do you think they will start both A. Williams and Kalu at Safety? I thought I read Kalu was competing at FS with Williams.

No Kalu is opposite of Williams. Love the sounds of this because it shows good for Lamar Jackson.

The schedule is pud and I bet they still fare no better than 7-5.

Hard to get excited after 20 years of mediocrity.

Pretty sure I'll hear quotes from O Linemen saying how they've never worked harder and team chemistry has never been better. Then the games begin and....

Good call... 2017... 20 years ago we were NCs.

Anyway, last year was a pud schedule that ended 9-4. So why the regression in your opinion? We are upgrading our talent and have a QB or 2 to run this offense, so please help me understand your train of thought...

Not sold on the defense? Just curious where you're coming from.

I'm excited for this season. I think we improve on offense, defense, and special teams. I'll say that our offense will score about 8 more points a game, our defense will give up about 5 fewer points a game and our special teams will account for about 2 more points a game. So, I think we're going to be, on average, 15 points a game better this year.

It's funny to me how the blind negativists can't seem to agree on how tough our schedule is going to be. Most of the time I hear from that crowd about how tough our schedule is going to be so that's why we're going to suck. Then you have a few others who say our schedule is going to be easy, but we're going to suck anyway. They're sure we're going to suck, they just can't agree on whether it's because of our tough schedule or whether it's because we just suck in general.

If the Huskers are able to get past Oregon on the road, they should be 5-0 heading into a home game vs Wisconsin. Riley has played Wisconsin pretty well so far and hopefully a home game gets the win.

This could lead to a top 10 match up against Ohio State at home and a possible return of ESPN Gameday.

Tough to break in a new QB and new defensive scheme but this could also set up as a special season.

I don't understand the negativity about this year's team either. This is now year three of Riley and he has some great coaches in place. We have an upgrade in talent across the board (except at running back). And we finally have real QB's.

Maybe the negativity arises because we have no superstar studs on the team. Or maybe because of the schedule. But Wisky last year had no superstars and had a brutal schedule. And yet they won the West.

I think we are going to have a great season. I see us going 10-2.

I'm not even so sure we won't have an upgrade at RB. Yes Newby was a hard working dependable solid guy but to me he never had the wow factor.

Very many 3-4 yard plays where he would get tripped up too easily. When Nebraska was more special, some of those 3-4 yard plays have a broken tackle that would bust into a long one.

I don't quite see this "pud" schedule you speak of though. Traveling to Eugene, and Happy Valley, and throw in Wisconsin and Ohio St. 3 of those teams were ranked in the top five at some point last year. I can understand being negative just to be negative, but get a clue next time before you hit send.

I don't get why it's fun to say the team you love will suck. Why would you want to start the season that way? I have no idea if we'll be great or even good, but I'm not gonna spend the offseason convincing myself we'll suck, what's the fun in that?
