I am ready to see weight gains and losses. I hope Elam is down to 350 atleast. Brumbaugh said he lost some pounds.
While just 1 guy, Elam will certainly be the poster child for off season body change. If he is "serious" I think he should do much better than that (i.e., 350#). He reported last year at 360# (33# less than his freshman year) but he finished the year at 360#. Most people can vary 1% or 2% per day (big people more) so a 10# loss is just about meaningless. But maybe he is just one of those guys who just can't lose weight. J-Lo had that problem but his weight did not really affect his primary job (i.e., throw the football from the gun).

FWIW, I am still of the opinion that Elam's height (6'7") makes it difficult for him "get low and play low" and any excess belly fat just compounds the problem. D-line depth issues will likely force him to play more snaps this year than last. My guess is that he really needs to be in the 325# - 330 # range. JMO.

Peace

People should be concerned with their own weight and let Stoops and S/C worry about Elam.

At the all star game, he was supposedly measured at 6'4 & 3/4" and he does seem to play a little high IMO.

Hey! I've lost 12 pounds the past 6 weeks and I did it the hard way...post surgery recovery! [laughing]

Just going by what was in the Game Notes rosters. Regardless, the guy is huge but playing high negates a lot of that size. The only thing an OL likes more than a guy who plays high is a good blocking angle.

Elam actually finished the year at about 380. He's about 365 now and wants to play at 355.
OMG! At what weight does the staff want him to play?

Peace

Elam did not play at 380 last year. He was 360 when the season bagan. 350 has been his target weight since he got on campus.

Brimbaugh himself said Elam was at 378[ or more] when the season ended and that his optimal weight is 360. Matt wants to get down to about 355.

I never read Brumbaugh say that? Only quotes I remember about Elam weight was Stoops saying he was down to 360. The roster says 360 as well. If Elam was 378 pounds last year that is an absolute joke.

Obviously just misprints, but of note:
Kobe Walker, 6'3 315

Interesting notes upon first glance:
Calvin Taylor 6'9 295 DE - was hoping this guy could develop into a OT
Denzil Ware 6'2 255 DE - not listed with the LBs as I thought his position would be like
Josh Allen, De' Niro Laster, etc. Does this mean he's moving up to put his hand on the ground like Kengera Daniel, Alvonte Bell, etc?

IIRC, did I read that Tymere Dubose tore an ACL in the fall?

Although inexperienced/unproven, the size/depth of the DL doesn't look too bad like this:

DE - Miggins 6'5 285, Ke. Daniel 6'5 270, Bell 6'5 260, Taylor 6'9 295, Ware (?) 6'2 255
NT - Elam 6'7 360, Pringle 6'3 330, Dubose 6'5 315, Hyde 6'3 320
DT - Meant 6'4 302, Middleton 6'3 302, (Dubose/Hyde in a pinch)

Stoops indicated that Ware would be at OLB, maybe the Hatcher dismissal moved him back from DE to OLB.

Ware is a Jack End/LB and is listed as an End/LB as they do for that position. He's the stand up DE that plays on the boundary side of the field. Laster and Allen are listed as OLB which is the Sam position but either (Allen and Laster) can and probably will play the Jack at times. Bonner and Bannerman will play at Jack too but they aren't here yet so they can't be on the spring roster.

Really wish that would force the media somehow to this:
Kentucky is one of only 10 schools that have won an NCAA championship in BASKETBALL while also claiming a championship in FOOTBALL. '71 for those that wasn't aware.

Taylor size wise reminds me of the Oregon dends. At 6"9 295 he will probably take time to learn proper leverage. Tall dtackles tend to take longer to develope.

RV did you get to practice the other day? How did Taylor look?

Skinny - which is kind'a nice since he's listed at 295 so that means he should be able to carry even more weight. He played at DT and moves pretty well but is probably a year or two away from being able to contribute significantly.

One thing I should note from the post you quoted, Ware and Laster were at Jack while Allen and K Walker worked at the Sam spot.
