Just wow! Congrats to the Mustangs with their stunning upset of the Caravan! MC fans, we needed this one badly.

With wins against Mac and Marmion, the early round rematch will be a reality! And, I am OK with that because it's 1 - 32 seeding!

DOS--the stache is in its early stages!

MC is the better team and will win any rematch. But this was s huge win for SR. Great job by the kids. And I'm so happy selfishly as it is a tribute to the history of the program. Really great game by the kids. And I'm very happy for Kuska and his staff.

You never know with these rivalry games. That's why I am hoping the Cardinals make the Wildcard to knock the Cub out!

SR can be a dangerous team with that offense. If the defense can improve, SR just may be a tough out in the playoffs. We'll see, though. Just happy for the program. Big win!

Is this SR's first win at Gately since 89?

Not sure the year, but when Tim Gorski was the TE, Mustang scored 54 points on the Caravan. It was a very down year for MC, and the favorite Rita team took care of business that night. MC had a lot of TO's; that I remember.

Big win for the Rita program. To go into Gately and beat a heavily favored MC team is a great win for Rita. Lenti must be going f'ing ballistic. Which MC team shows up at Rice next week?

Frank will have them rebound. Good thing though that Frank elected to schedule a couple of pushovers for Non-Conference games - otherwise he'd be sweating it on the playoff streak. Still while no one gave Rita much of a chance on the road - the same can happen next week at Rice. Anything can happen in the Blue

Well if the Br. Rice players and coaches feel that way it could become a trap game for Br. Rice. But think cooler heads will prevail at Br. Rice. MC is 0-2 in the CCL. I would look for them to play like their hair is on fire. When was the last time MC was 0-3 in the Blue?

I believe you might be right on that one, JC. Loved the fact that Todd used the TE downfield that year. Using big 6'5 Zaleski downfield this year as well. Seems to be working.

I honestly think MC will beat BR next week.

As good of a game as #7 had for Rita, #29 of MC did an incredible one on one job on #7 all night. I think he plays offense too. So I think MC made some personnel changes in response to the LA game and to SR's game plan and #29 probably broke up 5 passes himself, all clean. But MC guys would know better than me about the changes or if it was a change at all. I don't know who wins but it will be a good one.

Rock, it's the solid argument that you have used. It's the CCL Blue and anything can happen. That's why I think MC will win this game. No disrespect to BR. Yes, I am concerned about the program, but that offense that Todd has put in--and you have correctly pointed out--SR will be in any game.

I am hoping last night's victory will convince some kids to choose SR over her rival schools.

100% agree. MC is 3-0 away from Gately. They've already seen Rita's high powered offense and will be more than prepared for a lesser version this week.

And it's no disrespect to Crusader. I just feel MC may score at will on BR's defense, unless I am missing something. No TO's will lead to a MC victory, IMO. Is BR's version really lesser than the Mustangs? They just put 45 on PC.

Whips just messing with you about BR's O. They're the real deal. The only thing you may be missing is that while the BR O may get the headlines, their defense is more solid than people give them credit for.

Rice did have two starting LBs out for the Provy game (Veal and King). King is slated to come back this week (Veal out til at least Loyola soonest). Yes Rice's D will give up some points to MC but will it give up more to Rice's O?

And that's what I thought. Good luck to both teams.

I guess I was just focusing on the Crete-Monee game and the 44 points, but then only allowing a total of 20 points against Marist, Montini and AC--some very good offenses there.

Whips post is good. A lot of good Sunday morning sarcasm packed into a short post ie MC's 3-0 road record.

Whips is bringing his game! Mind's not all into it, especially just dealing with 3 little girls at church! Should start wearing my SR shirt to church for recruiting purposes. St. Francis in LaGrange has some good student athletes.

I went to 9am and came out firing after an inspiring homily.

Forget BR-MC thoughts. It's all about the Mustangs in Wilmette next week as they sit alone the top spot in the Blue at 2-0.

No clue. SR has had their foot on the gas since the second half of the St. Pats game in week 1. Imagine going from losing to Provy until winning in OT (if that makes sense) then losing your playoff hopes on a broken play to resurrecting your post season chances on a last second win vs a rival on the road to facing the current #1 team on the road.

Cue the dead's 'What a long, strange trip it's been' and it's just now Week 6.

Ah, staying under the old proverbial radar. Nice! Let's see during the week which game gets more coverage.

Badke puts a lot of time and energy into beating MC...he'll even admit it to you....He's done an excellent job at shutting down the veer the past 2 years....Smallings tore MC apart last year....I love MC and would love it if they came up with a W, but BR is going to have to make a few mistakes and MC has to capitalize. That fumble return for a TD was astronomical for SR last week. The Lenti Brothers have to come up with something that will throw BR off and cause them to scramble. If not it's BR by 2 scores....but I've been wrong before.

Is there some bad blood between Badke and Lenti? Or is that just an urban legend?

In Badke's first game against MC (which was at Rice), Frank tried to throw long for another TD at the end of a half when I think he was up 42-7. Even the MC fans were like "c'mon Frank". So I think that's something that may have set the tone of their relationship. They're both competitive but I think they keep it to the football field.
